Charlotte, NC (June 15, 2012) – Robby Gordon returns to NASCAR Sprint Cup competition this weekend at Sonoma Raceway in the No. 7 MAPEI / SPEED Energy Dodge Charger. Gordon has been busy during his break from stock car racing; he has competed in several off-road races and posted wins at The Mint 400, The Parker 425 and The Silver State 300. Also, most recently announced the return of stadium truck racing – Robby Gordon’s Stadium SUPER trucks - resurrecting what was once Mickey Thompson’s vision.

Last time Gordon and his team were on a road course was the NASCAR Nationwide Series in Montreal, where they lead several laps in the No. 77 MAPEI / SPEED Energy Dodge Charger. They are excited to get back to road course racing and have been busy preparing a car that they hope will have what it takes to win at Sonoma Raceway, a track where Gordon is not a stranger to victory lane.

Winner of the 2003 NASCAR Sprint Cup race at the Sonoma, Gordon will be making his 15th start at the 1.99 mile road course. He has also recorded three top 5 and four top 10 finishes.

“Even though I have been out of the NASCAR scene for about three months, we have been extremely busy with off-road racing and the introduction of SST. We tested the No. 7 MAPEI / SPEED Energy car last week in South Carolina and look forward to competing with the regular NSCS group this weekend. Sonoma is a fun race track, and we have had great results there so I am looking forward to putting on a good show for our fans,” says Gordon.

Riding along with Gordon on the No. 7 Dodge Charger will be long time sponsor MAPEI. “MAPEI has been a great partner and supporter of our racing programs since 2006. I’m excited to have them back with us this weekend; we’ve got a lot of fun things planned for their employees and customers during the course of the weekend.”

Appearances – Robby will be signing autographs at the Robby Gordon Motorsports / SPEED Energy merchandise trailer on Sunday, June 24th from 8:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.

Race Coverage – NASCAR fans can watch the Save Mart 350 live on TNT on Sunday afternoon, June 25th, beginning at 12:00 p.m. PDT. On Friday, June 24th, SPEED Channel will broadcast qualifying from Sonoma Raceway beginning at 3.40 p.m. PDT. he is running both

Outstanding... Thanks TOG

Hey TOG, is RG running the BITD Vegas to Reno? I can't make the Montreal race, but can make this one. Thanks,

what about NW at watkins glen?

why? unless someone steps up with the cash. RGM would be short handed to run N/W and CUP on the same weekend,IMO

Thanks TOG,for everything you do.

Here's the link to Dodge's pre-race press release that Robby Retweeted yesterday. He certanly has the support of Dodge online and in print. What about under the hood? Will it be an Arrington motor from RGM's shop? (I didn't want to be the ASS that asks this quesiton but I waited as long as I could for someone else to ask first)

yes it will be his arrington-rgm motor

I would suspect that there has been a generous amount of consideration, and commitment to the power plant Robby is bringing this weekend. It's like....DUH...... That be it a HP killer bee, or one engineered on longevity or what have you. I'm skipping any regards about not bringing on board a penrod rocket but rather i'll take repose if it were that they simply "know what they are doing" and there's no reason to be concerned.....at this point. It all comes down to getting the "power to the pavement". I'll close with an admission that I know nothing of what teams can do to effect fuel mileage with the EFI setup, (simply have not bothered to teach myself about it) so I did not comment on such about what engine they built.

Your question has been answered already and the answer was his own engine.

Sorry, but I don't see too much "support" for Robby in that article. He was only mentioned twice and no quotes from anyone at RGM.

Then they posted a link to the SRT album on Flickr. Lots of great Dodge photos, but not a single one of Robby that I see. I just don't see support.

SO GLAD TO SEE RG BACK IN NASCAR RACE - CAN'T WAIT. Hope he qualifies and makes the race.

hope he makes the race, and than finishes top 30
