The following is a link to an article on Monster Energy Drink who the article says is still supposedly sponsering RG. It is interesting that Monster is now bigger in US sales then Red Bull.

"In lieu of taking out ads, Monster Energy promotes events and competitions in extreme sports--skateboarding, motorcycle racing, surfing--and sponsors NASCAR driver Robby Gordon. Similarly, rival Red Bull sponsors its own professional soccer team and targets more mainstream sporting fans."

Mainstream? Like airplane races

A good article.Gorilla advertising is not easy. You see it every day (when your in a store and they have foot prints on the floor leading you to there product etc). Advertising is a tough & expensive business. I think Robby needs to take better advantage of Facebook, Twitter & his sites. PlanetRobby is updated very often yet Speedenergy.com is updated twice or so a week. The guy is an awesome person ( he IS Speed!), can drive the wheels off anything and in super focused! I think there's no need to reinvent the wheel, just take a page or two from Monster & Red Bull! I think Red Bull created a race team to help market it's product, whereas Robby created a brand to continue racing. He's clearly on the right track, just needs someone internal to focus on some crazy advertising!! Just a thought from a guy that would love to see him kick ass ( and chase the advertising age old question daily!!)!! Also, remember, AMP dropped Jr, so every brand isn't a winner.

I agree with everything you said. Robby has a unique opportunity to market his brand in Baja at a very high level.
I spend about a month and a half down there each year surfing and Speed is way more prevalent there then it is here in the USA. Robby is a legend down there and speed can be found in many local stores in small fishing villages all over Baja. I often here stories from the locals of how they have seen robby flying by in some sort of truck.

Hey Mike, you're lucky to spend a month and a half at Baja!! That's fantastic!! For his product, it seams to me, is limited to racing. Maybe a college campus during a game (have one of his kick ass trucks or cars just give out 500 cans of speed, raise a stir) or any place where there's thousands to see Speed! I live in CT...none here! I would take any one of his cars and head to Yankee Stadium...rev it up...let the people know..THIS IS FREAKIN SPEED ENRGY BABY! People would notice...the cost...a couple of cans of Speed and an hour of time on the car/truck!! Hey, how can you manage 6 weeks in Baja...no kids?

Actually dave in Waterbury there is Speed Energy,at the GNC near the mall

Yes no kids, yet.
I agree with taking the truck out with some speed to large events as long as the event will allow you to get close. I live in So Cal and during the US open of surfing Speed energy did a promo at 7-11 next to the event. Speed brought the nascar a hummer and a one of the big Dakar support trucks and set up shop. I was happy to see Speed present but they got little exposure from it. The event attracted close to a 150,000 people a day in the 10 to 50 year old range. Nobody was coming by the speed promo and when talking to a Speed employee at the end of the day he stated the event was a total flop. The 7-11 no longer carries speed energy:( This event had surfing, bmx, skateboarding, FMX and much more, branded for the "extreme sports younger generation"

Marketing is a tough business...no silver bullet, no magic answers...when you think you have a brilliant idea, that's when you learn how much you don't know!!

Looks like the speed team is being very aggressive in PHX:

I am going to stop by the Scottsdale Bashas between 4 and 6. Been waiting for that Bashas to carry Speed lets hope they keep some on the shelves after this week.

Thanks 7gas I'll have to hit one of the Mesa locations glad they are showing up in such force.

I used to live about a mile away from the Union Hills location... and ride our bikes out at Cave Buttes. I miss Phoenix this time of year.

Not to gloat but the weather has been really nice just hope it stays this way through the weekend.
