Haven't heard anything about this in a long time. Maybe someone in the know can shed some light on the subject. Is there any potential at all for a second team? There are some good young drivers that would be a good fit with Robby (McDowell, Allmendinger Regan Smith) and Jacques Villeneuve was thought to be trying hard with Robby to start a second team. This year would be the perfect time to go to 2 teams, with the likelihood that the #01, #15, #22, and #00 will not be around next year. Any new news?

Would have been nice ... but I bet NASCAR had something to do with the whole Ambrose / Dougherty 47 to MWR deal. Fits right into their diversity goals. You know the 47 will get the 00's points next year. Heck I wouldn't put it past NASCAR to throw a speeding penalty or two Robby's way to make sure Ambrose makes the top 35 next year.
It doesn't matter if the second team was dog shit running on Jegs engines... Infact, that would help make it look as if Robby was an even better driver "same equipment better driver". Plus, RG would get a better choice of Tire serial numbers. And, RG could send the second car to the track with all kinds of tweeky goodies on it to see what gets through tech.

like a Trojen Horse.... maybe even put a Weapon of a driver like Erin Crocker in the car to take out other drivers around RG in the points during practice or the race.

Remember, sometimes it's better to have a team car outside of the top 35 to use for keeping others that are also out of the top 35. You can't do that with a top 35 car... Say you are 33rd in points with your primary car. You can't effect 36th in points. A 33rd place car with 10 non top 35s trying to sell sponsorship sure makes that 33rd place car worth a hell of a lot more.
I was just thinking about RGM taking a 2nd car to the last races of the year to try to outqualify the teams close to him for the top 35. I think it may be a good investment, it would probably piss NASCAR off though, so I really like it.

I was thinking more in terms of stretching personnel even further than they already are. Recruit some trade-tech community college guys to do the grunt work on the second car for free pizza and a t-shirt.

Instead of a Weapon driver, I would rather go with a driver(s) that can get it into the show, just log laps and collect attrition points. Less points for others, more points to sell (or keep for yourself if you need them later).
PC could go and out qualify a lot of guys! he has a p1 start this year, right? and last i checked he's not busy.
I think he should go after Jimmy Johnson, BUT ONLY, if Chad & Lowes come with him.

Eat your heart out John Menard!
