UPDATE: 2/9/12- A new 2 car team onwed by former TRG investors will take over Red Bull Racing's Owner Points in 2012. Landon Cassill will drive the #83 with Doug Richert as crew chief. Travis Kvapil is linked to be the 2nd driver with details to be announced soon.

This means Trevor Bayne and Robby Gordon will have to qualify on speed (or race in during Duels) the first five races of the season.

#71 team not returning in 2012?: Sirius XM NASCAR Radio's Sirius Speedway with Dave Moody has learned that the #71 TRG Motorsports NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team will not return in 2012. Sources close to the team say TRG will announce later this week that it has shuttered its NASCAR operation and will compete only on the Grand Am Rolex Sports Car Series in 2012. TRG finished 36th in Sprint Cup owner points last season, and would not have been a guaranteed starter for the season-opening Daytona 500. TRG Motorsports made a total of 106 starts since joining the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in 2009, with a pair of Top-10 finishes to its credit. Bobby Labonte claimed a 10th-place finish for the team at Talladega in the fall of 2009, while Mike Bliss finished ninth in the 2010 Coke Zero 400 at Daytona. Team owner Kevin Buckler did not immediately return a call seeking comment today.(Sirius Speedway)

New 2 car team announced that takes over Red Bull Racing points. Landon Cassil will drive the #83 and Travis Kvapil is linked to be the driver of the second car. This move puts Trevor Bayne and Robby Gordon having to make the race on speed or during the duels.

There are ways to get into the same Qual race.

That sucks, please excuse the rant im about to unload......
Danica Patrick is bs, buying points to race in a race she will either cause the "big one" or be laps down. She doesnt deserve being in Nascar, she hasnt proven herself in nationwide. She should race in like everybody else who starts out new, im so sick of hearing she is wanted in nascar. The only reason she is in nascar is for the dollars it will put in their pocket, thats all. She should go back and play with Indy cars, because that little girl doesnt belong here. Sorry. Its complete bs and great drivers like Robby have to qualify for a race he has a legitimate chance of winning. Ive said my peace.

That's why I enjoy the fact Robby is racing more Dirt..............

Yeah, but the only problem is nascar is where he will make money, the millions spent on the Dakar doesnt bring him anything other than exposure, not dollars. If all his dirt running would bring in the money that would be great, but nothing pays like nascar just for showing up, qualifying, much less winning.

I hate Danica and really don't want to defend her, but there have been people less deserving of racing in the Cup series in recent years (Conway for example). Her numbers in Nationwide actually are comparable with the numbers Smoke put up in his first couple years in Nationwide/Busch series, so I wouldn't say that she doesn't deserve it. In this day and age, if you have the money... you can have a ride (unless you're Geoff Bodine).

Quick question? what's the difference between Danica and Landon Cassil and Travis Kvapil and any number of others who have money but questionable talents and have done the same thing??

Travis has talent (Truck Champion) just maybe not in a CUP car. He's a hired shoe, not bringing money. Just say'n.

Bryan, I take it from you're post that you do not have a Go Daddy bumper sticker on you're ride......

Hell no, still have Jim Beam all over my car.
