Another sign of the times is the rumor I heard in the Cup garage that NASCAR has floated the possibility of a change in the field size for the Craftsman Truck and Nationwide Series to 28 vehicles and the Cup field down to 36 sometime in the future.

3 words not going to happen
that's 4. haha
to is a word?????
43 is just a number
here's a better idea...shorten the races. Who needs to see a 600 mile race? Nobody goes racing until the last 75 laps anyway. Nascar could reduce by 1/2 the number of laps...saves fuel and tire costs, the fans get more interesting races faster and we all go about our days afterward.
Shorthening the races would be nice. Not the big ones, but races at places like Pocono, make it 500 kilometers instead of 500 miles, Phoenix already does it.
I don't see a need to reduce the number of cars in the cup series by less than 40, right now there are cars still going home every week, so the numbers are good. In the NW series I would reduce them to 36 nothing less.

But if this happens, it would be all about the money as usual, and as Fly said, for NASCAR and the teams that stayed it would be better.
