Join in and discuss all the action from Stage 10 of the 2012 Dakar Rally. Robby Gordon was the WINNER of stage 9 & is only down 5m58s in the overall standings. Nasser Al Attiyah did not finish stage 9, so he is out of the rally. Cars begin stage 10 at 7:44am/et (9:44am local). Raceday chat will be available throughout the entire 2012 Dakar Rally. COURSE OVERVIEW

The drivers will be overcome with even more intense sensations early in the morning. It is precisely at the beginning of the special stage that they will be deeply moved by a spectacular view, combining sand and waves, which continues for several kilometres. The theme will remain constant, since the most experienced experts will be able to surf on the dunes which stretch out for around a hundred kilometres. On the other hand, the difficult fesh-fesh area that will have to be tackled at the end of the special stage will bring everyone back to the tough reality of the long-distance rally.

This is my first post here. I just wanna say that there's a lotta smoke leading to the French and where there's smoke, there's usually fire.

It sounds like some very questionable calls have been made by the officials, many in favor of French teams. It's hard to know exactly what's going on, because what I see from the web and the toob is very limited. But the stuff written in the French and Spanish press seems to be VERY anti-RG and very little negative about the French teams...that's normal. But it seems like it's WAY over the top.

I have to agree with Ben Cartwright: if RG's DQ'ed, then I'll just switch the whole Dakar thing off. Probably won't make the tiniest bit of difference, but I'll feel better.

In the Stage 10 Finish Interview thread, Linc Conrad stated that it may take up to three weeks for the appeal.

It boils down to this....when RG wins he will be DQ'd, if by some little peckerhansels chance he doesn't win, then he wouldn't be disqualified.

Welcome Ray, I firmly agree. Allthough I'm not the biggest Tour De France fan, I like most Americans perked up an ear when I'd hear an Armstrong update. I seem to remember the ASO throwing some extra adversity his way a time or 2. & like you, without Robby I couldn't care less.

In all the years I've watched European racing there is no way to win against the FIA. Anyone who fights usually gets penalized more. The FIA is a dictatorship that writes it's rule book on a chalkboard. I hope I'm wrong but Robby's hope is slim to none.
