STAGE 8 TRACKING

STAGE 8: Copiapo > Antofagasto

Connection 245km | Special Stage 477km | Total 722km

COURSE OVERVIEW

At this stage of the competition, the number of contenders for the title will be reduced to a small handful in each category. But despite the significant number of kilometres to be covered, this first stage after the rest day should not be relied on to create decisive gaps. The rally's longest special stage will be used to allow the competitors to get back into the pace of the competition. On the stone-covered tracks which will lead to Antofagasta, the pace will be rather intense, but this will not prevent the drivers from catching sight of some magnificent views.

Both Robby and Nasser picked up time in that segment. Now its GO TIME! Down 3 to Roma and 1 to Peterhansel with 2 segments left.

RG needs to gain 3-4 mins on Peterhansal today (and every day) to close the overall gap

WOW! Did RG make up all but 5 seconds before the end of the stage?

looks like Robby made up 5 minutes on peterhansel @ the finish

Pos. N° Name Hours Time variation
1 305 ROMA Joan (Nani) (ESP)
16:03:44 04:25:44 -
2 303 GORDON Robby (USA)
15:54:49 04:25:49 00:00:05
3 304 HOLOWCZYC Krzysztof (POL)
16:02:48 04:27:48 00:02:04
4 302 PETERHANSEL Stephane (FRA)
16:03:22 04:31:22 00:05:38
5 300 AL-ATTIYAH Nasser saleh (QAT)
15:59:53 04:33:53 00:08:09

Looks like a strong move at the finish, I can't wait to see the results!!

that should put Robby second overall around 8 minutes back

7 and a half minutes.. RG picked up better than 5 minutes today to thrust him into 2nd overall

Ca commence a chauffer pour le petit Stephane! (It's getting hot for Peterhansel).

I cant wait for this part of tomorrows stage. Hopefully we will see some videos...
"To reward them for this intensive endeavour, they will drive down the steep descent to Iquique, already featured on the 2010 Dakar route, to the shores of the Pacific Ocean."

BC saying RObby might have been held up by 30 seconds at a cross road. Stay tuned!

Just watched stag 8 recap and I'm getting the feeling that Robby is getting ticked off at Nasser.Drove right by him.By the way this is what i would do.Is this going to hurt the team.I think Nasser is making a lot of waves there and he don't care any thing about the team just trying to win. What is your thought.
