Reutimann Out at MWR!

MWR is expected to announce at Texas that David Reutiman will NOT return to the #00 in 2012, instead the #00 will run a partial schedule with driver Mark Martin. Aaron's is expected to also fill the space of Clint Bowyer's schedule.

Mark Martin in the Michael Waltrip Racing stable for a partial schedule next year. #56-Martin Truex Jr. will return to drive MWR's NAPA Toyota with newcomer Clint Bowyer coming on board in a partner Toyota entry carrying 5-Hour Energy sponsorship for the bulk of the campaign. Sponsorship for the #00 entry driven by David Reutimann will not be in place for the entire 2012 schedule opening the door for Martin to take over and compete on a partial basis. Michael Waltrip Racing has an announcement planned Friday at Texas Motor Speedway where it is expected the team's firm 2012 plans will be unveiled.

One more thing...Mark Martin may have a deal done for a partial schedule in 2012.

IMO- This had more to do with upgrading their driver lineup. Getting Clint Bowyer and full funded equipment along with Mark Martin to add veteran experience.

I wonder if the shortage of TRD engines has anything to do with the growing number of part time Toyota teams?
TRIAD still has engines available, but not considered 'A' class engines by some.

Agree PG, I was thinking kinda stupid to fire the only driver to actually win a race for MWR, but it looks like NAPA and Truex were signed for another year or two. Bowyer coming with 5-Hour needed additional sponsorship, so Aaron's will likely fill those spots with Bowyer and the rest with Mark Martin. For Aaron's it's an upgrade trading in Reutimann for Bowyer and Mark Martin.

Kind of odd Reutimann left out to dry this late in the season. I'm sure he'll find a ride, but last year Reutimaan stuck with MWR even though he had other offers. Makes me think there was a falling out of some kind recently. When David was asked about the situation he replied, "Go ask Michael Waltrip!"

I'm still not seeing whats so great about Mark Martin. Martin and Rudy are about the same marketability wise (not very) Rudy's won more races than Mark in resent history.
Somebody reported the dominos are fall into place for 2012, I contend the domino's are falling.

The herd is thinning. Roush has full sponsorship for only the 99 and 16. Roush says they're committed to running the 17 unsponsored - we'll see how long that lasts. They may also cut their Nationwide program to one car next year. I wouldn't be surprised if NASCAR reduces the top 35 to the top 30.

Mark Martin was supposedly driving whatever races Danica didn't for SHR. Keeping him in the Hendrick stable. Splitting his time between two teams would be unusual, especially with the different manufacturers. But since Martin is a Ford guy anyway maybe he's trying not to play favorits.
