I was wondering if anyone knows if RGM is doing any testing for the upcoming change to Fuel Injection??? With RGM doing their own motors for the balance of the year, I didn't know if there would be any sharing of information with the Penske group on this or not.

I would say no way are they doing any testing.
hopefully this is where support from Dodge comes into play, if it still exists.
Testing=Money and RGM has better things to spend it on, so I'd say no. IMO
Test What ?........................NA$CAR has put this in box and no one will be able to touch it. Just bolt the S**T on and go.

Some fuel savings, better T-response and more $$$$$$$................what a joke. Brian should kick back some $$$ to the teams to deal with the change over.

Just like the POS in office, all this spending in a time when sponsor dollars are at a premium and fading it will be BRIAN'S undoing........and for all of you political cats get a life.

The sport is hurting as hurting can be, what part this new twist will give it is just another brass nail. "How can the big teams cheat?????"
Hey.....Michael "Traction Control" HMS has been using it for over a year. The sensor is so small you would be hard pressed to find it on the car. Yes there has been some discussion on this site about this as well as FI. My source tells me that someone can make adjustments to the box and leave no prints. My source also has been invloved with this system and other systems for quite some time. In fact he has been the go to guy in the R & D to make this application work for most other bodys of racing.
Although this type of FI system is antiquated by current standards there are still some 200 parameters and unlocked or easily hacked back doors that can be manipulated/overwritten without much effort. When NASCAR goes with FI full time the disparity between the haves and have nots will be embarrassing.
From the quotes coming from testing, MWR has made comments about "learning more" every time they run. Sounds to me like there is going to be a learning curve on getting the engines tweaked to get the most out of them. I am hopeful that there is some kind of agreement with Dodge that info learned by Penske will be shared with RGM to try and keep him "up to speed".
IMHO you can't go out there and run a new style engine and not have the knowledge on tweaking it for max HP.
Anyone who is an engine tuner in 2012 will know what the deal is with the fuel injected motors & these tests are nothing more than to concrete data for the 2012 RULEBOOK ( available to all teams )

So whomever RG gets his motors from in 2012 , I seriously doubt the fuel injection will even be an issue.
Personally, I hardly care about Nascar anymore - can't tell you the last time I watched a race.

Though - this fuel injection stuff is long overdue - as consumers, this is a big plus. Since every motor in our cars is fuel injected...I'd like the manufacturers to focus more on direct injection and FI in general. Maybe it will help bring better motors to the public.
I believe there is a basic misuderstanding,they are NOT getting NEW engines.They are just changing the way fuel/air mixture is go into existing engines. This is nothing more than another expense for team owners.A Nascar 'branding' thing.
This fuel injection system is from the 80's, it's not a modernization. If you have a newer car in your driveway with cylinder management or is ULEV-2
, it's light years ahead of the system Nascar is mandating.
