Looks as Danica be attempting the Daytona 500 in 2012. What number will she use? If RGM is not in the top 35 with the #7, would the number be on the market? If so what could be the asking price for the limited cup races she's planning.

Maybe a partnership/support deal to use the same cars as Tony, Ryan and Danica in 2012. There would be room for a fourth team under a SHR? Or a deal just like the 78 and RCR. Work smarter, not harder.

Keep selling Speed Energy! Gas On RGM.

The fact that some thought he would not keep the number 7 is crazy. He has a lot of brand built into that number and he picked it for a reason. He should try and keep the number 77 for a second car, a tie in to off-road, and the nationwide series as well.
I know it's all a business but does anyone remember why Robby picked the #7? I don't see him giving it up, you don't make that kind of decision and then just blow it off.
Same number Alan K, owner driver had - right? Has a little history there and Robby's in the same place. Maybe Robby could loan Danica the number and she could be sponsored by by Speed Energy,
H (o )( o) ters and Go Daddy?
Here is the ESPN article regarding Robby saying he is not giving up the #7

http://espn.go.com/racing/nascar/cup/story/_/id/6899717/robby-gordo...
BRISTOL, Tenn. -- Robby Gordon says he won't give Danica Patrick the No. 7 when she enters the Sprint Cup series part-time next season.

"C'mon!'' Gordon said on Friday at Bristol Motor Speedway. "Why would I?''

Patrick said on Thursday, when officially announcing plans to leave the IndyCar Series to drive a fulltime Nationwide Series schedule for JR Motorsports and part-time Cup schedule for Stewart Haas Racing in 2012, that she'd like to keep the No. 7 that she's had throughout her motorsports career.

Gordon, who has had the number for six years in Cup, isn't willing to bargain.

Asked if he would change his mind if offered $1 million -- which by the way isn't likely to happen -- Gordon jokingly said, "A million dollars? You promise? And they'll put SPEED Energy on the side of the car? And Danica will wear a SPEED hat every week?''

SPEED Energy is the energy drink created by Gordon.

"'I've built my business around the No. 7,'' Gordon said. "It's all fun and games, but I think she should be proud to drive the No. 77.''

The 77 could be available. It hasn't been used for a full Cup schedule since Sam Hornish Jr. lost his ride at Penske Racing after the 2010 season.

It also wouldn't be the first time a driver doubled up on a former number for a new one. Dale Earnhardt Jr. went to the No. 88 when he couldn't get the No. 8 from Dale Earnhardt Inc. after he moved to Hendrick Motorsports in 2008.

Now lets end and close this thread!!
Hey Robby runs a business, and he is going to do what ever is best for his business at the time (even if it is calling an audible). I can see him keeping the 7; can also see him trading the 7. He is going to do what ever is best for him and his business at the time. I think if he could get Danica to drink Speed Energy every time she is on TV in exchange for 7, that would be a great deal. I also expect Mark Martin to be in Tony's 3rd car next year when Danica isn't because they have the same sponsor, it’s a Hendrick satellite team, and Mark loves coaching new drivers. But what ever happens has nothing to do with how many times it is posted here, and everything to do with what is best for the actual parties involved.
That last sentence is the most unbiased, rational, intelligent reply I've read all season. Thank you
Cubic dollars :)
We all hope that Robby keep's his number it sounds like, but so Robby stops the start and park racing maybe he can sell the number and buy the equipment to get "more then into the show", get back with the Speed, Hendricks, Ace Uniforms, Dodge/Ford/Toyota/GM camp's and get those groups to buy the equipment and be a team driver--either way we all want to see you keep the number and get to the front of these races while your mind and body have the drive out front.

No one wants you outside the top 35 or an also ran or a start and park race team, since it is us your fans and yourself that only watches the nascar since you race, RACE TO WIN with your own team or someone else--

Actually, I'd prefer RG does what's best for RGM with the #7. Personally, the #77 ties in with everything else he runs and there MAY be value in providing the #7 for a few races to another team. There's no rule that RG the #7 runs each week, is there? Points stay with the team opposed to the number, I think anyway...
I wonder if SHR will try to get NASCAR to have RG fined under the 'Actions Detrimental to Racing' becasue he will not give Danica the 7? Any way, I am glad someone will stand up to her and her jurgernaut. She isn't what this sport needs, IMO.
I'm pretty sure Robby has the right to keep the number no matter what.

and I somewhat disagree about danica, sure NASCAR doesn't need any particular driver but she does draw interest and ratings, and that it something NASCAR needs.
Actually, she is. The sport has been in a decline since probably Sr.'s death 10 years ago. Whether you like her or not, she will bring a much-needed boost of attention to NASCAR. I can guarantee she can drive circles around 99% of the people on this board, myself included.

If RG wants to keep the #7, he's free to do so. He just needs to run it once a year to keep it under the RGM ownership.
