Could someone here please tell me how is it that another single car team beat Robby in points. I see the 78 car based in Denver Co. with the same challenge the 7 car has but one is 26th in points and the other 34th. I see RG with major driving talent and car construction ability but poor finishes. Is the question money or skill or some other factor. I read posts here on most issues and can't get a grip on why RG isn't at least in the mid 20's in points. We have some insiders here and I would like to get some insight. Oh by the way yes I am a RG fan from way back.....just a little frustrated.

You can buy a nicer Dodge for less $$$$$ say 7 - 8k less.
sound good- I totally disagree though, I think Dodge is a Very good thing for RG right now and hopefully down the road, atleast the next few years-First time I really think Dodge is doing some very Good things!!
oh but RG is only weekly dodge with out a win, so hows that?
@NightHawk, think big picture,not just Na$crap.
JEEP = DAKAR
ok.. Could someone explain the Engine thing for me? I read about Penski and RGM motors. Did Robby start his own engine department now or something close?

I usually stay on top of things posted about RGM on here but seem to have missed something here. My laptop died a while back so i haven't been able to participate in raceday chat in a while (rather watch race than just chat about it..lol) thanks
Nobody really knows the answer to your question other than a few people on here probably. It looks like Robby has an in-house engine program he is running and TOG has said numerous times that there is nothing wrong with the engines and they are not an issue.

Supposedly at Indy for qualifying, Robby had an RGM motor and and Wimmer had an Penske motor and they both ran very similiar laps. There is something wrong with the cars that must figure out. I'm sure that Wimmer's engine was the same as the 2 and 22's and they qualified in the top 5-10 so you would think that Scott would have ran faster than he did.

There was a picture posted a week ago or so that showed a Dodge engine with and Evernham engines on the valve covers. No way Robby is still running those original powerplants from back in the day when Ray was running Dodge's unless it's like Brian Kes. where he ran the updated COT but had the old engine in there and the car is built for those engines? Remember when he wrecked at Daytona I think, he was running an older Dodge engine there and Penske offered him a newer engine and he couldn't run it because the motor mounts are different.

Then again, Robby could have bought some of the old Dodge engines or got some from Penske and he is updating them or tearing them down after the races and rebuilding them to be good for each race. I do remember when I on my tour of the shop, I saw some Dodge engines sitting on the ground and never saw Penske on them so maybe they were the ones the team runs now or maybe just test engines?

Like I first started out saying, I have no idea and this above is only speculation but RGM does have motors now from somewhere, but will have a Penske motor for Watkins Glen. Let's just hope though that something doesn't happen to Robby like Carl Long and he gets caught with an illegal engine because it was supposed to have been right from who he bought from but wasn't when Nascar checked it.
Maybe Dodge wants to expand the number of engine suppliers (and teams) that it has and RGM is the company they have chosen to do that.
just for info/history. Brian K was using the R5P7 engine and all there chassis where set-up for them.Everham had 100+ of them in inventory at one time (this is the same version Robby used during the Nose-gate period) The newest version, the R6P8 requires different mounting/plumbing/exhaust.Robby's older inventory was convert'd to fit this engine.Both Penske and Everham have/had this current Dodge engine.
Carl Long's engine was a used Ernie Elliott prepared unit.The engine was worn out and not rebuildable when it was sold to Carl.as memory serve's.
It is hard to know what is really going on and I agree with you and too I'm a RG fan for the past 25 years plus myself. We all wish that he might team up with what appears to be the best in motor's and chassic's (Hendricks Motorsports) and get on the same playing field as the others. If I had the $5,000,000.00 to get and keep the team at the top I would, we all know it is all about the money for teams and that is why you ALWAYS see those that are committed to winning have the money behind them. It is this way in every sport and across the world let's not turn a blind eye on the facts. We also know that you must be going to the track with other drivers just for the money as you entry the race start in the back and drop out for one reason or another just to collect a check (fyi this goes on with all the guys running in the back) they earn $75,000 to $100,000.00 by running 2 or 20 laps on one set of tires, 10 gallons of gas and 5 hotel rooms and a semi for $1500.00 towing the car back and fourth so to spend $5000.00 to make $75,000.00 has been smart for RG but not fun for us YOUR FANS.

Robby--from your fan's we want to see you up in the front while you are still the driver and owner before the young bucks take over 100%.

Go get them Robby and more importantly TELL US YOUR FANS WHAT IS GOING ON in real time!
I have two tickets available for "The Bandwagon"  I'm asking for top dollar now + a case of SPEED. These tickets are good for after the Watkins Glen race. Those without a ticket will be whining & saying they thought they were on The Bandwagon. (reports are new chasis, Penske motor, Robby driving) Don't get left out! Get your tickets while only a few remain.
