Geez, I can't believe Kansas is going to get a second date over Las Vegas and a bevy of other more deserving venues. Kansas is the worst track on the tour....it's like Chicagoland light or California Jr. This Nationwide race is putting me to sleep.

vass....from someone who still lives here...and I'm not trying to disagree with you again....whatever the controversy in building the track....it has done exactly what they wanted it to for that area. It's a huge strip mall thing with several destination restaurants, a Great Wolf Lodge, Nebraska Furniture Mart, Cabelas, Chateau Avalon...lots of places. They are currently working on a huge waterpark (Schlitterbahn) and just got approval for a Hard Rock Casino. Now they are getting a second VJG Camp in the area. For a cash strapped county that is mostly known for all the crime and run down-ness that is KCK, it's been huge. And the speedway has turned out to be a great neighborhood partner for alot of charitable things.

Just my two cents.
My son lives a couple of miles from the track since he's a poor college student, it's about all he can afford. He grew up in Olathe and Lake Winnebago/Greenwood so it's a change for him. He also manages a restaurant in the area. The problem is that small business owners(like his boss) have been hurt, while the big corps supply mostly minimun wage jobs and take the profits out of town and pay reduced taxes from the deals they cut with Wyandotte Co and KCK. It's like jackson country paying for the stadiums that johnson county residents enjoy. It's not the win-win situation the media may be portraying. I managed a KFC in 2000 within a couple of miles of where the track is now. I don't see how the residents of that area are really enjoying what's been built, they were very economically challenged, and still are as my son and friends tell it.
every track that only has one cup date wishes they could have 2.
And not one of them should have two. Not Kansas, not Vegas, not Chicago. None of them.
Wow uni-matter, thanks for your in depth analysis there. Why shouldn't Vegas, or Joliet get a second date? BTW, there are no races in Chicago, I don't care what the media keeps tellin ya.
Look at a map of the country, how close is the next track to either Joliet, or Vegas? For me here, theres MIS,& Indy. Indy has one date,& MIS has 2. Now look at the surrounding area that doesn't have any races. We get people from Wi, Mi, Mn, Ia, In, the Dakotas,& so on. There are NO races in the north central United States. MIS doesn't get a lot of these people, becuase they'd have to drive arond lake michigan. I know you can't see that from your uni-matter shack, but it's pretty big.
I'll let Vas handle the Vegas arguement, but it's pretty close to the same deal.
Mike, anti lives in Vegas if I'm correct. Why he wouldn't want us to have a 2nd is a mystery to me? We both deserve a 2nd Mike. :)
Indy is only 3 hours of Chicago and pretty much a straight shot freeway drive. When I lived in Vegas I would attend Vegas, Fontana and Phoenix races without issue. It would be more appropriate for the series to expand to venues that have no races rather than feed the cookie cutter syndrome. Road America, Gateway, Iowa etc. If they're just going to add another generic 1.5, Kentucky getting a first date trumps a return visit to Vegas or Chicago. But then what really matters to NASCAR is getting dates to ISC tracks that can sell out and have growth prospects, so what WILL happen is Kansas getting another date at the expense of a smaller track.

Its laughable to think that: 1. People in Vegas have no other track to go to or 2. That people don't travel to Vegas for the race. After all, it has the same issues, right?

Now get back to giving us more of your amazing insight for next year, since you know things the rest of us don't.
Nobody knows wtf is gonna happen for next year, prolly not even Rob. I put my speculation in on what I think could happen already. Quite frankly, if Rob keeps running his dream into the ground, nobody's gonna care either. Thanks for elaborating though. BTW, I agree with ya on giving a new track a date. Hell I wish they'd add a race for them people in the northwest. But in the meantime, I think even you can agree with me that Joliet, or Vegas should get a date brfore Kansas. Oh,& I know where Indy is, it's an extra 3 hrs past Joliet, for all those people I was talkin about in the n. central states.

Oh,& the shit that I know, that you don't, isn't ever comin out from me. I'll keep enlightening everybody where I can, but never at the cost of people who trust me. Not my style dude, sorry you can't respect that.
I think Kansas is probably my least favorite track on the schedule. But I think they will get another date sooner rather than later.

And if I had it my way, it would be reduced to a more managable 30-32 race schedule and no tracks would have two dates.
I hope they don't give Kansas a second date. I want to see Iowa, Vegas, Kentucky(Better than Kansas), or another short track or road course get a date on the schedule.
Well thats just nuts, wanting to see a variety of tracks in a variety of locations! Why that? I'm sure we could put together a quality series with 2 Vegas dates, 2 Fontana dates, 2 Chicago dates, 2 Texas dates, 2 Charlotte dates and 1 Kansas date! It could be AWESOME!
Vegas should be the 1st track to get a second date. I cant see how one casino near Kansas makes them deserve one. LVMS is a first rate facility, I work the races there and, aside from traffic issues, we are a kick ass racing venue. The trucks are awesome under the lights and the Cup cars will only be better.
