Could it be the new Grand Cherokee with a motor based on what he runs in cup? The Grand is available with the Hemi but is anyone racing it in anything that requires endurance? It doesn't seem that there would be time to develop the Hemi, where a variation of the cup engine would seem possible.

Maybe that's why he started do some of their own engines, and now with the fuel injection...... just a thought

the 6.1 is aluminum also.I'd prefer to see the 5.7's bore of 3.92 used with the 6.4's stroke (3.72) or better yet the aftermarket 4.05 stroke.3.92x4.05 would be similar to the smaller LS used for the 011 DAKAR.Just say'n

Like many other types of racing I'm wondering, if RG were to run a Grand body on the current platform would he have to run an OEM type engine available in the Jeep or could he get away with running the LS for 2012? Not sure if Jeep would be thrilled with that. Reading Mikes comment it seems Mopar has options and if he could get some factory support in the engine dept. that would be huge for his effort.

@Wally this is just my opinion ( no basis in fact ) Why would DODGE be so willing to help Robby?Becouse of the 'CUP'operation? I'll leave that alone. Off-Road, Robby is a big hitter.Robby has stated there's a 99.9% chance of a change from the HUMMER.DODGE has competent engineering and R&D resources.Robby owns adequate spares for the current DAKAR chassis.DODGE has engine and body options to support the program.
If nothing else DODGE has Robby's LS engine's to get a base line.

@Mike that all sounds plausible and it's what I'm hoping for. I really think the Grand is a better option than the Durango just because the Jeep name is internationaly known and Dakar could be a great stage for them. As for Dodge involvment the "Cup" part of the RGM operation is less than stellar right now but as you pointed out Robby is big time in other markets and succsess in the Dakar transfers well in the states even if the race is not as well known here as else where. I know I'm not the one opening up the bank account but a Dodge RGM partnership has the potintial for a real "win win" situation. Now for a really big "IF" If the above comes true and results in succsess could that open the door for RGM to spearhead a factory Jeep effort along the lines of VW, Mitsubishi, ETC.....how's that for taking a giant leap over the Grand Canyon into the realm of what if's??

The Dodge Caliber is the only model offered in Argentina. The Durango is available in Chile. The complete Jeep line up is available across South America. Just sayin'.

I think it has to be an engine from the brand or available in the platform raced. The inflators may have to go too as Jeep does not have OEM inflators (Hummer did on the H1)
