Just got back from Dega! Got a black hat w/ Orange Speed logo & Robby swapped my Monster hat for a black hat w/ green Speed logo, got a Free Fast Five shirt with my purchase and a cold Speed Octane (first time I tried Octane...and It's now my favorite). Robby had a good crowd turn out at his autograph session. Saw lots of Speed energy hats & shirts being worn today. They were selling Monster mini helmets for $5 (that was a big hit)
The Fast Five/Speed show car pulled up (that created a buzz & large crowd).Robby was super cool, really took his time with each fan and chatted while signing. Class Act!

Wasn't able to post during the race (cell towers were full and wouldn't open web pages or transmit data). Listened to Robby & Casey work together on the scanner all day. Casey impressed me how he stayed with Robby all day, even helping Robby get teh lucky dog. He could have easily swapped to driver that lost their partner due to an accident, but he stuck with RG all day. Even dropped back to help Robby get back in the game. #newrespectforCasey

you totally summed up my feeling for casey totally impressed and if he ever lost his ride robby should put him in a second car if they could work that good together every week they could accomplish alot together

Yeah, I was in Dega too. He was a class act. Robby was pushing Mears when they were a lap down so Casey got the lucky dog on the 2nd caution. He immediately got on the radio and told Robby he would drop back and help him get the next Lucky dog. Robby chatted with his crew chief about taking the wave around to get on the lead lap, but they could only go a certain amount of laps before they would need fuel. They decided it wasn't worth the risk of having to fuel during a green run if the caution did not come out. They made a great call and Casey and Robby worked together and got the next Lucky Dog just as planned.

At the end, they dropped back a little gambling that there would be another crash with the craziness up front, but it never happened. When Robby pushed it seemed like they could really move, but as soon as they switched it seemed they were not as fast. Towards the end, they did cruise up towards the front on a good run, but I think Robby started to overheat and needed air so he pulled out and they lost their momentum so they switched roles and Casey pushed him for the last few laps.

If a crash had happened they had plenty of room to adjust and it would have been a good call.

I decided to go to Talladega yesterday, so I drove 5 hrs this morning to get there watched the race and then drove 5hrs back. I bought a lot of Speed merchandise for myself and family, and proudly wore it during the race surrounded by JR fans (not Sam Hornish, the other one) Ha Ha. I missed Robby at the Trailer by about 15 minutes. Sucks for me! I did get a shout out to him and he turned and looked as they were pulling into the end of the pits for driver intro, so that was cool.

Oh, and also the car looked Awesome!!!!!!!

Blain - Great report! Thank you so much for posting. This answers all my questions about yesterday's race and glad to hear that you had a great time.

I am still hoping that Robby enters Dover or Pocono. Not holding my breath, but hoping.

Great finish--should have been better....but the car is in one piece. Casey was a great partner, as well as Sam. Maybe Sam should set up the car more often. Very little adjusting. Listened on the scanner all day at home. Looking forward to the next race. Go Robby--gas on!!!!!! another top 20--take it.

@Keith,your guess'n on expense's is way short.While engine lease terms are team secrets,I was suprised when I heard the round numbers.Gross income vs net dollars it is better to be in CUP vs NW. I have no idea how they stay in business.

@Keith, CASH COW infer's a health NET profit in my mind. Short race statergies are the only way to squeak out a meger profit as a self sponsored team. Compared to shitty purse (newly reduced) in the NW series and the Truck series has never paid that well, yes CUP is a cash cow.
