can't race a wrecked car trying for the pole all the time.
The other thing to keep in mind is RG had 50 laps less gas than the others cars. Had he not blown the tire he would have been pitting under green a couple of laps later and probably be down aboot 3 laps. But nevertheless, I loved the call. If you keep taking chances, everyone, even RG, will eventually get a good break.

Even though he wasn't in most of the race I watched him the entire time he was out there, and had a blast. Caught a lot of hell from fans of the drivers that were trying to pass him, but that made it even better; that's why he's my favorite driver!

The only other thing to add is the black car is the most bad-ass looking car on the track! I guess Fontana's already been painted yellow, but for the rest of the season I would run the black car for day races, the orange car for night races, the pink car 1 time in October for breast-cancer awareness, and never run the yellow car again. Not gonna happen, I know, but that's what I would do.

Staying out was a good call. I liked seeing RG up front. You can't predict a problem. All we needed was a caution and things would have been great. Next weekend the other guy will have bad luck and fall back on points. We will have a good weekend and move up a few spots.

A flat in Baja last week and a flat at Bristol, there will be no more flats.

Run Hard
It was a risk worth taking. The problem seems to be that Robby's car's don't drive the way he wants them to this season............AGAIN!
He seems to say the same thing about how they drive over the radio almost every week and has done for a few seasons now.
If you listen to the scanners, all drivers complain about the same issues as Robby. It is just inherent to the car that NASCAR has mandated. The winner of each race is the team that deals with it the best that particular week. Constant tire compound changes add to the tweaking needed to keep ahead of the game.
I believe Robby has just as good of equipment as the others, just the fine tuning and catching the right break.
Keep knockin on that door Robby, it will open or you can just bust through it!!!
I only get to read this stuff in fits and spurts...but, I sure appreciate the insight and posts - Thanks TOG et al for the site.

I'm amazed that some folks think they know this business and what to do better than a full team of professionals at RGM....lame.

On a percentage basis - how much less is RGM working with ($$) than some of the *fully funded* teams? It seems to me he milks the turnip for the last drop of blood. Certainly getting far more coverage than other small, single car teams and, if selling SPEED is the point...coverage and glad handing is what needs to be done....the results will follow as the money comes in - assuming the focus stays in Nascar.

As a tangential (sp?) point: I assume the primary market (age group) for energy drinks is younger than the average age group for Nascar. That would mean things like drifting, supercross, etc.....would be more in the strike zone.

It's early - do you really want to watch a movie when you know how it ends?
I've rested quietly in my dark corner all year, quite content in my own opinion of what, has/is and will go on at RGM. I'll poke a jab though and say that perhaps the only truth I see is that it was early in the race for a gamble but if a caution came out right around the time we are all focused on it would have been a great break and a great call. There is no reality other than the one that is, however there are endless realities that are the ones we see in our own mind pertaining to the one central in focus. And thus the young are told and the told are old and in the eyes of reality only the one you see is the one that matters. And so goes the fool to the pool of fire to drink not flame but only to quench the thirst for knowledge that is the ................back to racing Bill

Just got back to Edmonton Canada (nice little 10 hour flight) from my first Bristol trip. I must say it was dissapointing to see Robby crash out so early. But what I saw on Saturday at practice and for the 100+ plus laps he ran on Sunday is a owner/driver with a great team and car who had an amazing showing against the big boys. Everyone has an opinion and I totally get that mine does not matter as it is not my ass in the car and my name on the checks. But after watching the nationwide race go over 100 laps green on Saturday I would not have gambled that early on as you know that what is going to bring out the caution this early is a tire problem and it was him because he had the most laps on his tires. The other guys that stayed out on lap 50 all had poor results but hey that's racing.
The thing I knew already but was reenforced by many fans is how much Robby is appreciated. It was typical with every second fan being a Earnfart fan. Talking with a few of them I heard that they love thier boy but one lady said when she got Jr's autograph he did not even look at her. She said she got Robby's one year and he put his arm around her and spoke to her for a few minutes and she said she greatly appreciated him for that. Even the guy I rented my scanner from went on for five minutes about Robby with a bunch of stories when he saw my hat and shirt.
One thing I got an appreciation for more than anything is how much it must cost to run a competitive car in these races for 36 straight races and I saw a first rate driver and team and even though he was out early was proud to see RG running with the big boys and doing it his way.
You guys tell me. I have been to Bristol, Vegas, Phoenix, and Talladega now. What is the one track I need to go that I have not been to yet? I'm thinking Texas or Charlotte?
RG RULES.
You need to go to darlington. The fact that I am from there does not mean I am partial in any way
Texas is a nice track, but the racing is usually a snoozer, I've been many times as it is my home track.
