Join in here and discuss all the weekend action for the 2011 Bristol #1 cup race. Robby Gordon will drive the #7 FOOD CITY/SPEED Energy Dodge. Robby had a 22nd place finish last year at Bristol. Here is the weekend schedule for RGM at the Tennessee track.

yeah they stayed with the 7 for a while, I am surprised they didn't follow Robby into the bathroom. No wait, that's only for Junior

I don't think Sunday's problems where lack of quality equipment,more likely a by product of an adjustment. Historically there would have been a caution during that run,it didn't happen.At first I thought they should fix the car and make laps for points.There's the fault in my mind,Robby's NOT running for points.

If it had a broken A frame it hit really hard. Why just toss another A frame on and go out with messed up geometry and wreck it again. You ruin another expensive part, tear up more tires and maybe bend it worse. Staying parked I think, was a good idea.

was the right call without a doubt

LOTS of TV coverage, though my feeling on why is that we had Food City on the car as a sponsor, who was the sponsor of the race...I wouldn;t be surprised if the Nascar fellers told the booth to talk about him/show him when they could to get Food City some air time... my gut feeling on that matter..

and to Shane H Robby is always the hardest car to pass (and is annually voted by the drivers as such)...whether he has a good car or not...LOL..our boy drives his arse off and never likes to give up a spot..

Heard some drivers talk about the difference in the "old Bristol" and "New Bristol"... The track was repaved and gave the tires more grip also the track is a little wider now. In the past ("Old Bristol") there was only enough room for 2 cars which caused drivers to get impatient, which lead to beating and banging. Also most passes were made by nudges. The corners were very tight which left very little room for errors. The "New Bristol" has enough room for 3 wide and the surface has enough grip to make passes anywhere. The results are easier for drivers with good cars to work thru traffic, but gone is the beating & banging and tight space. The results for Nascar ... empty seats, boring racing and lower fan approval.

I understand tracks have to be repaved over time, but changing the character of the track all together is ruining the sport. If every track is made to have great tire grip and easy passing lanes, then the tracks will all be the same...BORING! Never thought Bristol would be boring...but now it is. Thanks Nascar.

I Agree, Bristol use to be the best race of the year, Now one of the boringest races they have. I watched until RG went out, the rest was just riding around. No excitement what soever. Be glad when they get to my home town. Martinsville.

There was never a real challenge for the lead the last 20.....and I never thought I would see Bristol half empty....used to be impossible to get a ticket. They need to find someway to get the racing back the old Bristol and if that means shortening the corners....do it...ASAP!

I agree that the track needs to be restored to the prior configuration but to say the race was boring is untrue. I was there and the racing was good. The broadcast, as usual, did a horrible job of showing the action.
