Who are all of you wanting to see win the championship this Sunday? The finishing order in the race will more or less pick the winner, at least between Hamlin and Johnson. I have been a JJ fan since day one and he has to be the favorite to pull this off. I am thinking the stress level at the Gibb's shop this week is pretty high and I expect them to make a mistake or two.

Denny Hamlin, 6462. 2, Jimmie Johnson, 6447. 3, Kevin Harvick, 6416.

JJ wins his 5th in a row.
I believe the 2011 championship wiould be Jimmie's 6th in a row..
Hey TOG, I think you are very correct. I know I want to see JJ make it happen personally. I am kind of wondering why no one else has anything to say though?

Jimmy Johnson was out learning to go fast on those same Southern California desert trails when he was young as I was when I was young 25 years before him. And there have been a Million other people out there having fun over the years too. When setting around a night time campfire at Glamis or pre-running the 1000 everyone is everyones Compadre right? I'm sure Robby and other big time racers have passed the Tequila bottle to you around the campfire and then on to some unknown guy all of you just met earlier that day. It's always been the same way out in the desert.

I have lost track of how many guys I did those campfires with back 25 to 35 years ago. Robby's Dad Bobby and of course Scoop. Rodney Hall, Malcolm Smith, Roger Mears, the Robertson Brothers, Jim Venable, Carl Jackson, Mike Evans, Walker Evans, and Larry Minor. It would be a very, very long list if I took the time to really think about it.

Winning any kind of sports championship on the level Jimmy Johnson plays at is an achievement for a single person or a team. He has won 4 in a row and probably will make it 5 this Sunday..... That is unheard of. Where does he stop? Probably at 8 championships. And then I hope to see Jimmy out at Ocotillo Wells again just having fun and enjoying the desert.

My point is JJ is one of us.
I didn't even know she was entered. I have always liked her. And BTW Helen taught me how to weld..
While I have no doubt that JJ is one of the greatest drivers of all time, I'm not sure the sport itself benefits by his contined domination. Certainly his fan base is enlivened by his continuing success, but the group of fans which make up the bulk of the viewers are starting to lose interest in the face of it all, For his fans, I suspect it's an ongoing drama, but it's hard for others to see it in the same light when, to their eyes, there's such a ongoing lack of variety to the storyline.

While I believe that he and Chad will continue to win, I believe he could become a more interesting personality in the eyes of all if he were to fall into a situation of increased vulnerability, much in the way Jeff Gordon has. I was never a Gordon fan, but I'm finding him considerably more interesting now that he's not quite the invincible Superman that he once was.

When viewed in that light, I think JJ could end up garnering more fan interest, and enlivening the sport in general were he to lose rather than win this year.

From the standpoint of drama moving into the coming season, I feel that having that little weasel Harvick win the thing could provide just the sort of interesting counterpoint that NASCAR needs right now.
Harvick. Kevin's my #2 driver and RCR really pulled it together this year. They are most deserving. I'll be at Sunday's race wearing my Robby t-shirt and a #29 hat.

Yes, JJ is one of the best. But everything gets old with time, as does watching him dominate everything. I'm not a JJ fan, I liken Hendrick to Steinbrenner and the Yankees. Buys the championship year after year. Hate the Yankees, hate anything Hendrick.

Realistically, I think Hamlin will take it. He gained my respect after putting Kes in his place at Homestead last year. But sure rather see Happy holding the trophy.
