Travis Pastrana to Nascar?
Reports are coming out today from Sirius XM128 that Travis Pastrana is headed to Nascar. Does not mention which series, but Travis has been a huge Red Bull star.
With Vickers future unknown and Kahne good for 1 year, Red Bull could be geting Travis in Nascar's Nationwide or Truck series in preperation for the 2012 season in Cup?

Yes He will be with MWR, but I think he will be running in the K&N Pro Series first. Then if he is performing well then you might see him run a few NW races later in the year.
The reason I think MWR will start him in the K&N Pro Series is that is where MWR had Ryan Truex and MWR still has the complete #00 team, cars and the inventory will just be sitting there since Ryan is going to be in NW next year. Also with Ryan winning the K&N Championship in MWR equipment, they know they have good cars and crew and will be able to help TP learn quicker and also be able to compare his abilities to Ryans.
I guess we will find out tomorrow!

There's an official announcement due out Thursday apparently. If it's Diamond-Waltrip racing in nationwide, they should've kept Trevor Bayne (although I bet specific sponsor $$ is making this happen).

These 2 stories explain why the Trevor Baynes of the world will always lose to the Pastranas a Carmichaels of the world. BTW, Travis has already crossed over once and brought home a championship!

Trevor Bayne has a full ride at Roush - I don't think he lost.
As for cross-over drivers, here's some drivers who "Crossed-over" from a successful career in one form of racing into NASCAR: Dario, Slam, Jacques V, Paul Tracy, Danica

Real Cross overs, Rickey Carmichael, Jeff Ward, Brian Deegan, Travis Pastrana. You know the guys with real sponsors Like Red Bull, Oakley, Monster, Fox, and Rockstar.
Villenuve, and Tracy are refugees not cross overs.
Slam, well you can hardly call going from an asphalt oval series (IRL) to another asphalt series (NASCAR) a cross over. Besides, he lasted 2 more years than he should have due to his previous success.
Real Cross overs are package deals, Sponsor+Driver+ASS LOAD of fans.
Hope this clears things up. Maybe Bayne can keep Roush Nationwide Cars out of the fenses next year. Hell if he finishes half the laps with half the fenders on, he'd be a step ahead of Stenhouse & Braun.

I consider crossovers to be drivers/riders who completely change genre.Say dirt to pavement,two to four wheels, or pwc's to any wheels ect.Sponsor's and fan following have nothing to do with it.IMO
I would consider myself to be a crossover,two to four wheels.

No Sponsors, no fans, you wont last long at the top level of NASCAR unless you win. Jimmie Johnson had support from Chevrolet, Carmichael has Monster, Deegan has Rockstar. Pastrana has Red Bull. Fans buy shirts, and tickets. Ask Trevor Bayne, Landon Cassil, if great drivers can last without dedicated sponsor support.
But I do Agree with your definition. 2 to 4 wheels, or dirt to pavement.
