he did that interview at Dover.
Not bad... if kc comes back to RGM in 2011 let's build him some nationwide cars this guy needs to learn hint hint 5 million a year should make a sweet ass N.W team and beat running around last. TOG wouldn't have to edit planet Robby so much
Thats funny.....
"I feel like I came into this deal a glowing, neon green and I think we’re down to like a pine green"

hilarious

I was glad to see he has his eyes open. thanks for posting this, Alan
This was a great view on the situation and little glimpse into KC - +1 on the thank you for posting. As I snooze through many of the races (literally) - I've been thinking about what Nascar can do to make this series more interesting and financially feasible.

I don't care how many marketing degrees you have......tying sales and revenue to sponsorship spend (whether it's racing, commercials, print, etc.) is a "guess" at best.

Nascar looks to be taking some steps to reduce costs:

- recent race length reductions
- elimination of the catch can man

I wonder what the RGM opinion would be on EVEN MORE restrictions to limit the R&D, research and testing required at a track. I know RG loves to tinker....but, that's VERY expensive.

Imagine if the cars were more alike with Nascar handing out shocks and springs like they do some other parts. That would eliminate a ton of R&D spend and testing.

Way off topic here - still working through my coffee
I think the gap between have and have-nots would grow. Teams like Hendrick, Roush, Gibbs use all kinds of things like expensive 7 post rigs, wind tunnels, and computer simulations. RGM doesn't have any of that so the information the big teams currently get would be essentially unavailable to the smaller ones.
There is a trend when things are going bad you need more rules and controls. I claim racing was better when there were less controlled and there wasn't managed competition. We need to get back to the point where people like RG are allowed to tinker.

Would awesome BILL of DAWSONVILLE been able to succeed today or would he have been fined out of business by NASCAR?
Roush has been very slow most of last season and this year. Roush blames most of his teams being behind due to their simulations not being up to date...that's a big statement coming from the Ford backed organization with UPS, Crown Royal, 3M and Aflac as primary sponsors...not to mention the many associate and part time sponsors like Subway. Just shows you how if teams with that much financial backing and resources can be off due to not having something as good as other teams up front, imagine teams like RGM scrapping for sponsorship. Pretty incredible Robby finished 2nd at Sonoma this year. (That's about equal to Robby almost winning in a go-cart when others around him were driving Ferrari's).
One word: Talent.
Its unfortunate that Nascar turned a great sport into whoever has the most money wins. All those things help, but $$$ is the most important now.
Plenty of drivers over the last 15 years have found themselves in top notch rides, and failed miserably. To win consistently and score championships, still requires talent on top of everything else.
Sounds like the soccer industry here in the U.K.
