NASCAR To Abandon Racing Portion Of Business, Concentrate On Ads

NEW YORK - In a move designed to bring their business closer to its core
values, top NASCAR officials announced Monday that from now on, rather
than racing to determine a winner, advertising-bedecked cars would
slowly circle the track in a noncompetitive marketing parade set to
begin with next year's Daytona 500. "Declining revenue made us take a
closer look at the sport, and we found that many fans couldn't even see
the logos and graphics on cars when all that high-speed racing was
taking place," NASCAR president Mike Helton said. "Now that we've
eliminated the competitive aspect, we're also free to give our fans what
they've been asking for: new advertising on the track, flashier ads
applied during pit stops, and a safer, more relaxing marketing
environment overall." Fans objecting to the move were encouraged to take
advantage of NASCAR's wide array of newly available advertising space
to voice their concerns.

Good move.  This could really help underfunded teams find sponsors - WJM

Stroll for Two is $149 and includes a complimentary bottle of water to share.
Its another good way to support RGM (besides buying from the team shop) go for a stroll early at the race track and meet some drivers. Enjoying the fresh morning air, a complimentary bottle of water, and maybe Mike Helton will give your kid a ride on his motor scooter. Definitely a great family leisure activity before the Nascar Parade!
Another announcement where you go WTF
IMHO this started in 2004 when Nextel took over.
How did Harvick put it........Oh yea, WHO GIVES A PHUCK (TOG THAT'S YOUR FAULT) ABOUT THAT SHIT
That's what NAZICAR needs, more of what happy put out.
And no..no not for a second did I think that was real.
IMHO, Daytona on the last lap 2001
at least that was before the COT and other stupid rules
Here,Here!!!!!
WJM, you may not be far off.
Sarcasm is indeed alive and well. Good stuff WJM.
I think they should put 1 row of seats against the safer barier coming outa turn 4 at all tracks....That would solve many problems and give those fans a chance to see the sponsors names up front and personal..........ONCE
Now for a serious side to the sponsorship thing. A&W Rootbeer was in the race at N.H. No matter the team it was running on, it's a good product and it was a good lookin' car. It's up to the television coverage to get back to the through the field with a little information on each car/driver/sponsorship, this in turn and over the long haul will get smaller sponsorships interested in being on a car, even in the cursed capacity of the one-off deals. These these smaller associate one race primaries are the wave of the future to save some of these teams, which goes hand in hand with the survival of the sport itself.
But you see, we live in a capitalistic society that is not only dog eat dog it's dog kill, dismember, and tie up in red tape legalities and labyrinth style backassward destroy our own economy in the name of profit business practices.
This economy is not going to recover......."a housewife refuses job that pays less than 20 fins an hour" So all the big stuff that drives an "ECONOMY" is gone.....LEVIS are made far from your ass...go find a silverware set to give as a housewarming gift that is made the USA Hard but it can be done. That's why the small fries will be the future. Service and Food. Sorry for the rant but the reasons for sponsorship drying up run pretty deep and yes it's time for NAZICAR to get with it and show these cars in further depth it's true. The tube however is it's own game and NAZICAR can't dictate what the format is I would say. Well back to shredding the cheese.
Made in the USA from USA milk from USA Cows by USA born workers packed a USA made container shipped in a USA made truck to USA customers some of whom however support non USA made companies...parts of the truck are made in Canada.....Global economy
