Top 35 will lose two teams in 2011 & FRM likely to downsize

RPM announced today they currently plan to only run a 2 car team in 2011, the #9 of Marcos Ambrose and #43 of AJ Allmendinger.

Nascar has allowed organizations to broker deals with other teams (RCR moved the #07 points to the 78 team).

If a deal isn't worked out, the teams below would just move up into the Top 35. With the 38, 26, 7, 37, 34 and 71 fighting to stay inside the Top 35, all could be solid inside at the end of the season. Only 2 teams outside the Top 35 are realistically within reach. If RPM's 2 teams dissolve and no deals are worked out, then they would inside the Top 35.

Front Row Motorsports not sure on 3 teams for 2011: When asked about the future of the team's third car, the #38 squad that currently sits outside the top 35 in owner points, Front Row Motorsports Jerry Freeze didn't mince words. "It's a big question mark right now. Unless we have some phenomenal success in finding sponsorship, I don't see any way we can carry three cars next year. I think the likely scenario is that FRM will run two cars next year. We really like David [Gilliland] and Travis [Kvapil], we're planning on those guys coming back and we're talking with them about it, so that's the direction I think we'll be going in. Then again, maybe we start next year running that third car if it's in the top 35. If it's not, it may just go away." That said, the team is also very much aware of just how valuable team number three is. They know just how close they are to locking a third entry into the Sprint Cup field, and what that means from both a competitive and fiscal standpoint. "Now we get that car back in the top 35, we have a lot of options for next year," Freeze explains. "That's why we're working so hard ... I would bet the house that if we had a third car in the top 35 at the end of this year that we could find a driver with a sponsor to run the Daytona 500. That's a great-paying race, and could be a great value to FRM."(Frontstretch)

yes, true. Last time i checked on them they only had 1 car for daytona
I don't see it working , but good luck to them.
If the sport continues in the direction it is going i'm seeing a future that has even a more defined group of teams that can compete and a group of teams that are so far off the map in the long run it only spells less teams to actually show up at the track. If an entry fee included X amount of tires and X amount of fuel included I wonder what the entries/start and parks would look like then?
In the end NAZICAR will provide a blind eye for the teams that want to start and park since an even lower attendance for 2011 will put another nail in the coffin and shrinking prize funds will all but kill the after thought entries in the long run. Look for only 43 cars to be showing up sometime after the first weekend off next year. The top 35 rule will not mean anything next summer.
Guess how many "tire tests" Hendrick has done at NASCAR tracks this year.

It will shock and anger you.
Some of us ,WJM and myself have been discussing that subject all season.
And Yes it will amaze some.It helps explain why some teams always unload fast!
It won't work, they tried before and it didn't, and that was when they could fill the grandstands
...and both of thier subscribers are excited about it!
Now I can be a VIP AND a team owner!
" I've heard of other teams starting up too, can't give out who just yet."

Thats ok.. We wont lose any sleep over it.
i hope not. Losing sleep over nascar is just plain wrong.

Both are probably excited about it too. One thing it takes is sponsorship. Me and Jason worked for months trying to get the 90 sponsored before the coke 600, and no luck. Me and jason are plum out of ideas, and both of us is now helping out buster bennett in arca.
good luck to you.
From an article today about 2011...(www.scenedaily.com) several teams don't have all their races sold. RCR has Budweiser but is looking for sponsorship for 16 races. Jeff Gordon is looking to fill Dupont's cut backs (Walmart rumored), Penkse needs sponsorship for Mobil 1, Tony Stewart is looking to replace Old Spice (Mobil 1 rumored), JamieMcMurray hasn't renewed Bass Pro Shops or McDonalds but looks likely they will return. RPM is trying to convince Best Buy to stay. Ambrose will have Stanley Tools, but needs additional sponsorship. (Hunts Pizza?) If Scott Speed runs a 3rd RBR Toyota, they will need sponsorship for his team.
