Nationwide Series purses to be slashed: NASCAR will cut the purses for the Nationwide Series by 20% next season, a move designed to make hosting the second-tier series a more profitable proposition for race tracks. It's the second consecutive year the purse will be reduced in Nationwide. NASCAR also cut the purses in the premiere Sprint Cup Series before this season. "The health and maintenance of the tracks is essential to the health of the entire industry," NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston said, "Like in all facets of our business, we have made financial adjustments to ensure the long term strength of the sport."

A new car for 2011 & teams get rewarded with NASCAR cutting the purses.( and I fully understand why )

It wouldn't surprise me to see a few NW teams just leave the NW series and give cup a try instead.

20% cutback is huge for a series that has mediocre purses to begin with. The BIG teams will only dominate more now. I remember not long ago the ads campaign for the NW(busch) series with the slogan " I don't know " , in reference to what driver/team would win the following race.

Now the slogan for 2011 will be " I know who "

Its not going to be possible for the start and park teams to show up next year, i wonder how many races wont have a full field?
Full field? 43 is just a number. Shorter field = bigger payout. It could be a wash.
great call.
Short field = possible TV/promoter contract penalties. Contracts call for 43 car fields.

The NW series is a joke now with everyone knowing that the winner will likely be either the #18, #20, #22, or #60 each week. Cutting purses only hurts the other NW teams, but does help the tracks. Wait, guess who owns a lot of those tracks...
Just have Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, Harvick and Keselowski go at it and get it overwith.
And look at the small fields the Indy cars have. And look at the small crowds the Indy cars have. Soon we may see some sort of crazy TEAM system (Team Enhancement Allocation Matrix). Believe it or not that's what it stands for in Indy car prize funds. The fact is The Busch series does have that great a crowd and the tracks do need to survive in order for racing to do the same. NAZICAR is sighting the fact that the tracks do need to get some cash when they host an event. If guys like flipper and Kyle Bush race cause they love to race then go race, let the chips fall where they may in the end the tracks do need to make a profit. It's not the tracks fault at all that NAZICAR let the sport get so damn money driven. Come to think of it the Glen let me walk into the track with a nice tidy ice cold bag of brewski's right up to my seats instead of holding me hostage with a 5.00 cup "O" warm garbage like a NFL football stadium does....5.00 I meant 8.00. Shave the prize fund and race we need tracks
Nationwide series is in trouble. Looks like all there will be next year is the cup teams, RWI and Braun

Nationwide only teams such as Baker Curb Racing with good equipment have started to start and park and Phoenix Racing has already gone to a part time schedule
used to be a great series to root for the underdog .
yeah Baker Curb is one of my favorite teams. They do so well with no sponsor or cup team affiliation but they are starting to run out of money
And still there a people who think Robby should run a N/W and Truck team skipping Cup.Folks that think this is the proper direction for RGM , well you know what I think about that plan! It doesn't pay to WIN in N/W or Trucks so why bother!
The last two weeks ARE the business model, perfectly executed by RGM! IMO!
IMHO, Cup drivers should not be allowed to run full schedules. It detracts from the drivers and teams only NW.
unless you are Paul Menard and need a win..........
