Robby not racing at New Hampshire?

Nascar.com is reporting that Robby has decided not to run next weekend at New Hampshire because of lack of sponsorship. Robby Gordon Motorsports will be running a car with P.J. Jones only. Is this true!

Robby Gordon who just broke ties with Monster will drive the #83 Red Bull car for the rest of 2010. Bobby Labonte will drive the RGM 7 car the rest of the year.

Not to add more fuel to the Bobby fire, but remember his visit to RG's shop at the end of last season. At the time, there were rumors of Terry starting his own team and leasing space. I saw Bobby in Homestead and asked him what he was doing there. He said "just looking around." Maybe he liked what he saw!

Monster has not left RGM...they will be here for Dakar...and on Robby's helmet all year. They really wasn't interested in Cup races...but sponsored Robby for 5 events anyway...this has been covered on many posts...the sponsor I can't believe that left was Jim Beam...liquor companies fought hard for years to be allowed into the sport and then bolted after a few years. Crown Royal is the only one still sponsoring a Cup car. Captain Morgan is heavily involved in TV sponsorship during races. I can't believe there's not a Crown Royal competitior that wouldn't like to sign up for about 8-10 races...

Jim Beam was an "monkey see, monkey do" type of sponsor. They came into the sport when Jack Daniels was announced, and left when JD did. Its hard to weed your way through all the rumors, especially ones from over 5 years ago, but I heard JD was talking to RCR and Robby, and decided to go with RCR. Beam was a secondary pitch.

Please dont misunderstand my comments. I was happy to see Beam with RGM for 4 years, and happy to see what they allowed Robby to do.

I thought JD was going to sponsor Robby at RCR in a 3rd team? Seems like 1000 years ago. I cant remember either.

That's the way I heard it as well. Cingular/AT&T were ready to go another direction and RCR/Jack Daniels wanted Robby for the third team.

I don't think Crown Royal will be around much longer.
