Robby not racing at New Hampshire?
Nascar.com is reporting that Robby has decided not to run next weekend at New Hampshire because of lack of sponsorship. Robby Gordon Motorsports will be running a car with P.J. Jones only. Is this true!

I hate to say it to all of your New Englanders, but this is why people will talk about New Hampshire losing a race in the future. The same goes for Pocono and Martinsville. These tracks are not very marketable and sponsors would rather save their money for a race that will have higher ratings. I am a Pocono guy and I would hate to see the track lose a date but it is just a sad reality. It sucks for Robby and it sucks fo the team. The crew puts in so much effort each week to try and get the car ready for a race. This week they are preparing the car to run a few laps. As long as PJ qualifies faster than Conway, I'll call the weekend a victory.
Of course I would love to hear, "RED 7, RED 7, HOT ROUTE, HOT ROUTE!!!" (can we get an audible please)

NH still sells out most races UNLIKE most other tracks!!!! NASCAR has a better following in the Northeast than most!!!!! THE trouble has ALWAYS been, "waaaay toooooo many politics" in NASCRAP!!! Just a few "powerful" people in the sport ruining it for everyone!! God don't I wish the #3 were alive and well, cause most of what is going on now, WOULDN'T BE!!!!

i was at MI lots of empty seats.....they cut ticket prices kids free on SAT and half price on SUN (with advanced ticket purchase) still alot of empty seats
maybe the NASCAR frenzy had peaked?? Maybe fans bugets are tight and couldn't cut it this year?? it's not cheap for a race weekend for fans. so if NH still sells out they must be doing something right i would guess. Enjoy the race!!

I am not suggesting that the race does not sell out or that the race is not great for the local market nor am I suggeseting that NH's TV ratings are any worse than Michigan. However, tracks like NH, Pocono and Martinsville are hard sells for team to try and attract a sponsor. Without sponsors the cars don't run and drivers go to Argentina. Robby is most likely out this weekend and someone like Bobby Labonte probably won't run the full race due to a lack of sponsors.
BTW, while you are talking about politics, remember why NH has 2 races. Anyone remember North Wilkesboro?

what also is a factor in all of this is performance. RG stated himself before the season they needed consistent top 15 finishes to attrack sponsors or they will be sitting home on some weekends. If they were doing that every weekend my guess is RG would be sitting in the car on sunday. without the performance it makes it really hard for a team thats needs sponsorship to sell a race to anybody

I think every track is becoming a hard sell right now, and I'm sure there were plenty of politics involved with NH getting that 2nd race, but, if it sells out each race for the 20 years, I would have to say that it was well justified!!!!

We go the the Michigan races each year. Last year, the stands were half-empty and the race was follow the leader boring (except for Robby because he finished 17th.) We didn't renew our tickets this year and we received four mailings and four phone calls asking us to renew. Two of the calls were recorded (one from Jeff Burton) and two were personal calls from the track asking us why we didn't renew and telling us of all the discounts and improvements they have made to the track. These tracks are hurting and I don't think it's all about the economy. If the racing is good, they'll come. We need to thank Nascar for the decline of this sport.

I go to Texas every year as well as NH, and in Texas last year they torn down grandstands on the backstrech for camping. When tracks remove seats, there is a problem with attendance

They were adding seats at frantic paces during the "golden" years. Every bubble eventually bursts like we've seen with housing, etc. Just wasn't sustainable. Too bad the powers to be couldn't see it coming, blinded by the greed of their success.

really that style of racing has been that way at MI for years its nothing new. hey times get better people get some more cash commin they can afford to take the family to a nascar weekend. it did seem like more people were there this year than last
it is real bad MI is pretty much dependant on the auto industry when that took a dump so did MI economy
