Major penalty coming for the #38? bleeder valves found on the tires

Read this over at jayski's.  It sounds like the #38 could have a 200 point $200,000 penalty coming and could put Robby back in the Top 35!!!

Illegal bleeder valves on the #38 at Pocono? Sources tell Sirius that NASCAR discovered clandestine [secrecy or concealed] air pressure bleeder valves on the tires of Travis Kvapil's #38 Front Row Motorsports Ford Sunday at Pocono Raceway. Following the rain delay, NASCAR officials reportedly observed two soft tires on the rear of Kvapil's car and held him from rolling back onto the track for the start of the race. Closer examination of those tire and wheel assemblies allegedly revealed illegal bleeder valves, which purge excess air pressure from the tires as it accumulates under race conditions. If confirmed, the team would likely face a major NASCAR penalty, since tires are considered to be one of the sanctions "untouchable" items, along with engines and fuel.(Sirius Speedway)(6-8-2010)

Dang! I was almost sure this was a hoax!
I think cheaters are punk's, hammer away nascar! I think NASCORP would rather "kill off" FRM today and deal with RGM who plays the nascar "rule" games better later. I also think nascar could care less about the s&p teams and only pretend to cuz of the fans and track owners.
Some people need to tone it down a bit. Im excited as you are as it looks like Robby will be headed back to the top 35, but remember Robby has been in this situation before. This is going to effect more then the few that bent the rules.
The only problem I see is with the appeal, if they appeal, won't they get the points/$ back until after the appeal is heard? Which would mean we will have to qualify at Michigan but should be back in the Top-35 at Infineon. Right?
No, Points will not come back until after the appeal is won, which will never happen

matt,
(From Yahoo Sports)

Travis Kvapil is in serious trouble if what sources told Sirius NASCAR Radio's Sirius Speedway is true: NASCAR found secret air pressure bleeder valves on Kvapil's No. 38 Front Row Motorsports' wheels.

Once the rain delay was finished Sunday, NASCAR employees supposedly saw two "soft tires" on No. 38 and stopped Kvapil from starting. Closer inspection led to the discovery of the valves.

NASCAR Insiders says this could mean Kvapil gets the largest fine ever from NASCAR that will reportedly include a $250,000 fine, 300 driver and owner points, and a suspension of Kvapil's crew chief.
couldn't happen at a better time....getting ready to head down to MIS lookin more and more like we will be racin sunday
Its definately gonna be big...I heard 200 minimum and 200-250K....Its a bigger deal than Longs. But they may get a break cause I also heard last night the team was saying more like 150pts and 150K....Still hooks us up...Should give us a shot to really get solidly in over the coarse of the next few weeks...All tracks RGM has performed well at.
As usual, NASCAR can't get off the pot. They were real quick with Robby's nose penalty and Waltrip's manifold additive but they are taking their sweet time with this one. I wonder if Roush or Yates is appling behind the scenes pressure or $'s?
Front Row Motorsports penalty: 150 points, $100,000 fine, 12-week suspensions to crew chief, car chief and tire specialist.
From Pockrass
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- NASCAR on Wednesday issued penalties, suspensions and fines to the No. 38 team in the Sprint Cup Series, as a result of rules infractions committed during the June 6 event at Pocono Raceway.

KvapilThe team was found to be in violation of Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing); 12-4-J (any determination by NASCAR officials that the race equipment used in the event does not conform to NASCAR rules); and 20-10.7J (unapproved modification to valve stem hardware) of the 2010 NASCAR Rule Book.

As a result, crew chief Steve Lane has been fined $100,000, suspended for the next 12 Sprint Cup events, suspended from NASCAR until Sept. 15 and placed on probation until Dec. 31.

150 was far less than what most reports said, but still gets RGM back inside the Top 35:
