“We’re going to do everything we can [to race],” Gordon said Friday
at Dover International Speedway. “If I was to miss races, they would be
the weakest races [to get sponsorship] NASCAR has. Our goal is to race,
and that’s what I desire to do. We’re going to continue to do that until
it becomes financially not possible to do that.”

Gordon wouldn’t pinpoint a specific race where he might have to stay home. He said he would not start-and-park.
“We’re still trying to sell races,” Gordon said. “We’re going to run until we can’t run. That’s the best answer I can give.”
Gordon does have commitments for some off-road events. During the race at Pocono in June, Gordon will miss track activity
Friday and Saturday so he can run the Baja 500. Michael Waltrip will
practice and qualify the car for him, Gordon said.

Right, I'm with you Robro. Worst case scenario, MW wrecks the car & we start in the same place as if MW takes the pole...no pun intended. Best case scenario, MW grabs a great Q spot, which comes with the pick of pitstall....maybe even shares some good feedback w/our CC staff. Scariest possible thing to happen, MW gets into the Monster cooler....& then in front of a camera.
As for the "POS" club, lets face it, both drivers make some bonehead moves. Example: RG @ Darlington. If Mikey woulda made that same 3 wide pass racing for a piece of the wall...there'd have been no shortage of criticism. However (tho I havent really looked) I haven't heard anybody else call that bonehead move out but me. I'm no fan of Mikey, but I believe he'll get done what RG needs him to come Pocono...obviously RG does too.

hmmm,
one thing for sure ole' Mikey brings attention, and that cant be bad for RGM if he is trying to make the races.

watrip sucks,he aced robby out of the toyota deal to begin with,it is sometimes tough being a robby fan,but this is a bunch of crap,sold your soul to the devil robby,shame on you,and if dale sr was not blocking for the pos he would still be here

1) THANK GOD that MWR "aced out" RGM for Toyota. Do you remember MWR first year? RGM could not have survived that.
2) Dale Sr. blocking caused a tragedy, but don't blame Mikey... or Junior... or Sterling Marlin. It was ol #3 making a decision that ended badly.

Well of course it's the same info on jayski - he's quoting the same SceneDaily article. That said, it's probably a smart move for Robby to get along with Mikey. Regardless of what one thinks of the guy, Waltrip has connections, and connections make things happen.
