I know that the time is looming near and that Robby hasn't made any sort of announcement pertaining to the 500 . Any word about if he'll be there for one of the teams that hasn't named their driver yet ? Or , will he be doing the NAPCAR thing ?

I think honest success in Open Wheel is a thing of the past at this point for RG.

I'd rather see Dakar, and other major International Off Road Rally's, with full SCORE and BITD. But, it all requires sponsor interest and backing....

Throw in some major sports car endurance races and I'd be a happy happy RG fan....
Dakar!!!
Ya buddy, I believe theres still a few of us planning on attending...at least the race
when Robby canned it.....I went from personal to business.......so I have alot of commitments with entertaining clients....so I'm out this year guys....
I wonder how much it would take for a ride from Penske for the race. I remember when Greg Ray mortgaged his home and qual'd on the pole and then wrecked, I think that was the 500 when Robby got stuck in the pits and blew the fuel hose and they then took Ray's since he was out.

To me, The Indy 500 still is the ultimate racer's trophy at least if you are an American. Daytona 500 is another, but an Indy 500 Champ is something every racer dreams of. Robby was always strong there, but I guess Nascar is paying his rent even though it is hard to watch him struggle.

He is a good businessman since he has a team in Nascar for now 5 years without a win or top 25 season finish, you would think he could pull the deal off. Everytime I go by a Menards they are packed, sure John doesn't have some extra cash laying around.
I'm sure some of that extra cash got Paul some of the "good" motors this year ;)
I'm believe Paul will get the same "spec Honda" from HPD as everyone else.So Walker's team can focus on chassis stuff and not worry about engine stuff.IMO
If there is any positive in all of this it is that Robby still wants to run Indy. He has not forgotten or lost the passion for it, so there's always next year.
I would love to see him run Indy if he has a shot at actually winning... I wish he would have stayed at RCR too... Hes to good of a driver to struggle just to stay in the top 35... He used to have a shot at the road courses but lately he cant get a good there either... Hes competive at the plate races but towards the end of the races he doesnt have a teammate to help him to get to the front... He needs merge with a team soon or he will continue to struggle in nascar....
Time to let the RCR wishes go. Robby raced for RCR, had success, and he moved on. What if he didnt start his own cup team in 2005 & ran for RCR in 2005, and had a horrible year ? He might have missed the Jim Beam boat, and there is a possibility all his extra things like Dakar, etc, might not of even happened. And then what if RCR didnt re-sign him for 2006 ?? No guarantees in racing.
Just want to see him have a chance at winning in nascar... The only guarantee in NASCAR racing is single car teams are not competive anymore!!!
We may wish for Robby to do this or that, but let's get real he loves driving in NASCAR. Even though he doesn't win he still loves the competition, and in order for him to stop you would have to force him out of there. He probably has zero interest in running a full IRL season and racing sports cars full time wouldn't be for a long time down the road. Plus running five or whatever off road races a year simply isn't enough, he wants to race every week and the only racing series you can do that in is NASCAR.
