Gordon sticking with Dodge in 2009...?

Owner / driver Robby Gordon is searching for sponsorship for next season, but all indications say Gordon will be back with Dodge in 2009. Gordon currently has an agreement with Gillett-Evernham Motorsports and hopes to discuss a renewal for next season. Gillett-Evernham won't be the only option for Gordon to remain with Dodge. Chip Ganassi Racing uses powerplants built by Ernie Elliot, and Penske Racing uses powerplants built by long-time engine supplier Jasper Engines.
Dodge is moving closer to running its new engine in a Sprint Cup race. Tommy Wheeler, engineering services director for Gillett Evernham Motorsports, says he hopes to debut sometime during the Chase in a Dodge car not competing for the title. Wheeler said he'd like to see the new engine used in at least five races this season before all Dodge teams begin using it next year.
Gordon should have the opportunity to "test dive" the new Dodge engines supplied by Gillett Everham before the season ends.
Dodge only has one driver, Kasey Khane, inside the Top 12 currently. The next few races will decide if Khane will carry the Dodge banner into Nascar's Chase. If Khane drops out, Dodge would be the only manufacture not represented in Nascar's 2008 Chase.
Dodge anticpates the new engine will give all the Dodge teams much needed horsepower they've lacked since Nascar switched to the COT (Car of Tomorrow).

From what's quoted here, it sounds like Dodge is interested in keeping Robby on board, enough even to suggest alternatives to GEM.

Definitely looks as though Dodge has every intention of keeping RGM at their camp. I for one hope that new motor is all it's cracked up to be. Oh, & I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Rob's already talked to Ernie.

That's all there was. I went back to copy & paste the article and couldn't get the site to come up, when I finally did the arcticle was gone. I have no idea why, they might be doing site maintenance or updating. I'll check back and see. That was the header though "Robby sticking with Dodge in 2009"

The GEM alliance is only a 1 year deal? That helps explain why RGM is treated as the red-headed step child lately. RGM doesn't use GEM chassis' but receives a bit of technical support, use of their shaker rig, etc. Other than that what's the benefit? With Ganassi in dire straights I'm sure Ernie Elliott would welcome the business and he would probably provide better support too.

Jeah WJM - RG was friends with Gillette, but I think Everham is not too fond of our boy. He may do better with Elliot, see what shakes out. On to Bristol - Pray for a good finish. Joan

I think that Evernham liked Robby a lot. That is probably until Robby threw them under the bus. But that's just my .02 for whatever that's worth. It's all talk until it happens anyway. Cheers to all!

After Ray flew back from Baja with Robby he had a lot of nice things to say about the man and his off-road program. I also assumed that Ray liked him. I wonder if he still does.

Ray and RG are fine... Ray really dosen't have crap much to do with GEM anymore... He sold the farm to Gillett and just chills... (Ray has a super, super fat fucking wallet now)
