It sounds like Robby may not be running the full cup schedule, and that may disappoint alot of Robby's hardcore nascar fans. But what he plans on doing during his "off-weeks" has me absolutely excited. Robby says he is looking hard at running the Indy 500!! That alone would be awesome. But add in running the X-games rally race, building and (hopefully) running a monster truck, and running the Baja 500 & 1000. That is unbelievable. I am definitely looking forward to what 2010 will bring us as Robby Gordon fans, and I think it was worth the wait. What do you think??

Sounds awesome... Indy.... X Games ....! Go for it Robby!
It's a brilliant strategy, if you think about it. It does depend on being successful in all his endeavors, but this can be a huge move for sponsor attention.

In Mexico, Argentina, and Chile Robby was the rock star driver. Fan favorite because of how he does things his own way, and how he interacts with the fans. So, take that charisma to monster truck shows, the X-games, and even select IRL races. If he attracts even half the attention in those venues as he has at Dakar and Baja then he's grabbed a huge fan base and the eyes of sponsors. He can then carry a bunch of those fans back to NASCAR in 2011 and on.

Maybe I'm getting carried away some, but it seems like a great plan to me.
Seems to me your the mark.
Great plan, but then he'd have to actually qualify on time in '11 since it would be pretty darn impossible to be in the top 35 running part time. If the plan works, he may actually have enough $$ to build a car he could do that with.
the #7 will still accumilate the owners points, even if Robby isnt running the car due to his conflicts. The #7 will have the warners colors in some races.
so are they going to try and get the 49 also in the top 35 and if they do now they need a driver for the 7 on days that Robby is crushing the grave Digger
naturally they are going to need a driver for the races that both the #7 and the #49 are entered in,and the races that RG has conflicts. Las Vegas will be the first race for the driver of the #49.
Also, places like The Glen and Infineon, where both the #7 and #49 will race, I would expect to see a road race expert in the car.
No, you're not getting carried away, I think you've hit the nail on the old head.
