WILL RG MOTORSPORTS DEVELOP AN ALL-WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE FOR FUTURE DAKARS!!!!

Its early, or way to early in this years race, but I believe 2010 is the last year the Hummers will beable to race Dakar. Do you think RG will want to build an all wheel drive version of the Hummer for future Dakars to come. I also fill that with the possiblity of an overall could he get the Factory Support from a Major Auto Manufacture?

http://www.wimp.com/chainlinkextreme/ Here is Robby's new Dakkar AWD truck for next year. Would this violate Dakkar rules for 4wd or AWD?
turbo diesel guys!!!!
The Hummer isnt relevant to anyone and never really was. Having said that I would love to see him in any factory backed effort either building his own vehicle or driving for someone's factory backed team. I understand that just winning the thing is a major deal and just finishing the thing in your own vehicle is probably and even more major accomplishment. And when I say the Hummer isnt relevant I mean to a manufacture to sell vehicles. The Hummer orginally built as a military vehicle by Renco still remains a far different vehicle then what GM produces under that name as as big SUVs arent really selling I can see anyone backing one. Now a small rally type SUV maybe some traction there (okay the pun was intended)
Has anybody thought about possible considerations given to the V8 power that RG is puting down? RG said early in the rally that the restrictors were too restrictive and his top end speed was compromised.

The last stage proved this. Flat, straight....... No RG. With 2X the power and 2X the suspension, you would think he would have cracked the top five; but to no avail.

The restrictor rule took victory from RG.
You could blame the restrictor, that is an easy way to blame the ASO for the defeat. Last stage was very fast with with long sweeping corners or 90 degree turns. If you saw the video, 4x4 can create a 4 wheel drift that can carry them thru a corner without losing too much speed. In case of Robby, He cannot make the front wheel drift, if they are drifting then it a push condition (similar to when he nearly ran of in stage 2 or 3) and he has to get off the gas for the front tires to bite again. So the last stage, even though Robby drove the wheels off the Hummer, it cant keep up with the 4x4 for entry and exit speed for any kind or corner. The front of the hummer was designed light to tackle the dunes, creating a lot of push (Similar to a F1 car with no front wing), Robby has to tap the break before the corner, throw the back out and then hit the power. Super soft suspension dosent help either as the weight transfer is amiplified and you have to be nut like Robby to be able to control that monster.

Hummer advantage was supposed to be in dunes and then to limit the losses in stages like the last one. But Robby's luck ran out as usual so till next year, let see what Robby's shops churns out this time.
the AWD Tech. is out there, and I'm sure as we stand here today Robby has a group researching the best build. His Family has been racing for 3 decades, and have been the top of thier field. They will find the perfect combination.
i would like to see him deal with ford, in their factory raptor r with awd and their twin turbo diesel engine that would be sexy! that would be his lil project
Looks like F1 champion, Jensen Button is looking for a dakar ride as a privateer

"Doing the Dakar, for example; I would want to do it as a privateer, just to go there and have fun. It would be such a life experience. If you get into one of the top teams and you are racing for them, it is just so much pressure. I would want to go there and enjoy the race."

RG should build him a ride and have him foot the whole dakar bill. Now that Jensen is driving for Mclaren, he has the salary to self fund this and I am sure he can pull a couple of dozen sponsor.
intrigued by the VS channel clip on the home page....how no 2-wheel drive has won the Dakar since 2000. As you all know, I don't know shit, but it would seem to me that if RG wants to really compete with VW, he'll need to look at a 4-wheel option. Sacrilage, I know, but the Hummer just can't compete on the technical stages and I'm not sure any team can give up 5-6 stages and expect to win.
You cant even give up 2 stages now.
He needs a 4x4.. Can he enter two 2 wheel drives and one 4x4awd and have Renezeter race the 4x4.Meaning he improve the little problems he had with the hummer,(Belts airlines ,alternator ) .I hate to see him have a unproven 4x4 and have the trouble he had this year. and if KERS is allowed to add power at the push of a button over 300 to beat the restrictor rule...F1 concept KERS CADI or Denali What do you think TOG
Last time I checked Carl and Robby didnt get along to well. And if you think that alternators, belts and inflation systems cause problems wait till you add the hybrid system. Ask the BMW engineers how well the KERS system worked early on when it floored one of them after they touched the body after a hot lap. lol If you want a button to press to add horsepower might as well make it nitrous because the ASO wouldnt allow it.
