At the End of Dakar last season there was a huge discussion on who all the Planet members could or could not hack the Dakar. The Physical and Mental endurance to race the longest and hardest race in the World. Now, that we've had three of America's Best Desert racers once again give it a go the trophy is still not in America. BJ and Robby are both SCORE Champs and Mark Miller is Baja 500 and 1000 winner. So, with this on the Table what driver from what type of racing do we now think can Endure the DAKAR????

Ricky Carmicheal
Jamie Cambell
Rob Mac
Larry Rossler
Travis Pastrana
Kyle Busch

All these guys have speed and determination. They could practice all year and be very good.

Guys like Lance Armstrong and Micheal Phelps could also do it. They know performance and they definatly have determination. Luc Alphound won the Dakar and he is a downhill skier.
maybe smoke....but he has no off road experiance
I would not doubt Jimmie Johnson. I am not a JJ fan, but that guy is amazingly consistent.
Sorry but Jimmie could not even handle the fact that he would have to sleep in a tent every night. Jimmy pussed out racing the Baja 1000, because he wadded it up in a ditch and had to wait overnight for his crew to get him out. He said never again. If he wont do that then Dakar would be Jimmie's worst nightmare.
DId I hear/read that Jimmie needs motion sickness patches to even be in a off-road car? Dont get me wrong I am an equal opportunity employer, but when I was in my first off-road car at 10 (that I have a memory off) I wasn't thinking, "Okay I need to not get sick" I was thinking, "Can't we go faster?"

I think this motion sickness thing is an auto-DQ
That's not an uncommon problem(sickness) in off road/dunes. I would also bet many sitting next to or in back of Robby would have this problem in the dunes as fast as he is. Some even suffer while driving. I've never gotten sick driving but being along for the ride has gotten me once in the dunes. Just as in flyiing you can condition yourself to the motion. Once you get it your in trouble for the day though and once you spin your done as a driver. I have a friend who is learning to condition himself racing in the desert and he thought it was other things going wrong. Once he figured out what was going on he has gotten better and better with it. It's not fun.
Juan Pablo Montoya
Kyle Busch
Jimmie Johnson
Carl Edwards
Kurt Busch
Tony Stewart
Jeff Gordon

Any of those drivers could make a respectable attempt at Dakar. Especially if they're going at it with a multi-car team where they could lean on an experienced rally driver teammates and a quality co-driver for instruction on how to approach the particulars of a stage as well as the overall, you know...just like RG did when he went to Dakar.
Kyle Busch might be the only guy who would survive sleeping in a tent every night. The rest would be asking where their motor coach is at.
