At the End of Dakar last season there was a huge discussion on who all the Planet members could or could not hack the Dakar. The Physical and Mental endurance to race the longest and hardest race in the World. Now, that we've had three of America's Best Desert racers once again give it a go the trophy is still not in America. BJ and Robby are both SCORE Champs and Mark Miller is Baja 500 and 1000 winner. So, with this on the Table what driver from what type of racing do we now think can Endure the DAKAR????

I just want to throw in how freaking AWESOME it is that in this thread, every NASCAR driver is a wimp and couldn't handle Dakar (OH NO! A TENT!!!), but if you go look at the comments behind some of the recent videos apparently the current Dakar winner Sainz is a freakin pussy and couldn't handle NASCAR.

I love this place. LOVE IT I SAY!
Sainz is an ass not a pussy. There is a difference. I don't think Robby is sleeping in a tent even though some wall tents can be nice. I can't even imagine the politics(dealing with Sainz) in this race and I imagine Robby drives them(him) nuts! This ain't NASCAR.
I think Mark Miller did an outstanding consistant job this year. Robby is not going to compete against the 4wd unless he gets the inflation system down or converts the Hummer BACK to 4WD. The fesh fesh stuck showed without pre-running 4wd deals with those unexpected moments and sand better. The inflation system is never going to work(under this set of rules) being exposed to the outside. It will have to come from within the axle. Even at that it allows the 2wd to get close to 4wd but not better. Robby build a indestructable 4wd front end or better inflation system. The one Nascar guy that I think would do good in Dakar is Greg Biffle. I also think there are many possible drivers in the off-road world that could do well in Dakar. Robby however is driven to this(Dakar) and with some support will have more success. After watching this race I totally understand why Robby wants to win it. Oh I forgot: I would love to see Robby pound sand in Carlos's face.
Robby's hummer was never 4wd. The only oem Hummer parts are the grill, taillights and side mirrors.
The Original is 4wd. Robby set it up as two wheel. I think that is a factor in the rules.
I think Kyle Busch could do it and I bet he would like it if he gave it a shot. He also seems to know about the mechanics than some of the others - knowing how to do repairs on the course would be required.
Greg Biffle maybe!!! Casey Mears would never make it, Jimmie Johnson cost the Nelson Family alot of Money, and Travis would become addicted like Robby.
Rob MacCachren is a great choice, I talked to Kurt LeDuc a few years back when He did Africa w/Darin Shilton. He said, " It was unbelieveable and so demaning" and he is a bad ass. I like they finished 50th or so.
Sir Stirling Moss
I think he's retired.
BJ is one of the best out there, and I feel he should remain on the team if a car is avaliable. Experience is key in the Dakar.
Andy Mac would be a good addition. I see him doing well this year in SCORE for sure.
Travis P. would do well given his rally exp., but he is a bit hard on equipment.
PJ Jones... Al Unser Jr., ryan hunter-reay..... Wait for it. Danica Patrick... JK
