STAGE 6: Antofagasta > Iquique

Connection 180 km | Special Stage 418 km | Connection 0 km | Total 598 km

Course Overview

The efforts are equally spread out on the day's special. On the off-piste portion of the first third, the dust will push the competitors to be cautious. The larger and faster tracks that will be at the heart of the program will force those who are fighting for positions to maintain a fast pace. They will however need to keep a good amount of energy: indeed an African type erg awaits at the heart of a sandy portion of around fifty kilometres. But for the final part, the reward will be at the height of the difficulties. After having climbed a last dune, the competitors will take on a slide type sand downhill of close to three kilometres with Iquique and the waves of the ocean on the horizon. An unforgettable scene.

Nice data 7GasOn7 likey likey
yeah, I thought RG had the quickest 'sections' a few times today.
OK, I get it.
Meaningless Stage 6 Trivia:

at Arrival (KM418 ) the Hummer should have burned off
about 52 gal of fuel. Reducing the weight of the H3 by about 321Lbs
.
Or 3.21 Danica Patricks
Rough day. RG is actually only a few minutes ahead of Peterhansel at this point. That guy is a fucking monster in the Dakar events. Its really starting to look like a top five is what we can expect. Which is pretty damn good considering the event and the competition.
YES! Its not like the other are teams in the top 5 are un-prepared, lucky S.O.B.'s, they are VERY tough teams/drivers. All you can do is race it one stage at a time.
Never give up, never surrender. A lot of things can happen still. Long stage tommorrow and then a rest day at the half way point. As long as Robby is still racing there is still a chance!! I say if RG sees a Red bull VW he should give em' the chrome horn...
I know, but wouldn't that be fun...
I hope you're wrong, but I'm afraid you are probably right. With Robby and Peter 2 hours back, the V-dubs will dial it back another notch for the next few stages. It's not impossible, some trouble may come to them, but the odds just got longer.
Waiting for one of these top 3 VWs to crash out or have some kind of trouble feels like RG just went a lap down and we're all hoping for a caution to get back in it. Has any of the 3 even had flats, or got stuck once? Man, those beetles are dominating this terrain.

It's hard to imagine they'll all continue to fun this flawless throughout. Maybe this luck thing will turn around during a brutal Stage 7. Keep fighting and good luck tomorrow RGM.
If you listen to the interviews.... Mark Miller says every day he is only running about 85%. I am sure the other bugs are doing the same unitll the end. So now you got RG going balls to the wall to catch up and trying not to have any trouble..............doesn't look good. Our only hope is "THEY" have to run into some trouble. Good luck RG & BJ.
when RG says he's running "conservatively" that may mean 85% to everybody else, but for our boy that means 110%
