STAGE 5: Copiapo > Antofagasta

Connection 90 km | Special Stage 483 km | Connection 97 km | Total 670 km

Course Overview

The area has a reputation for its density in gold and copper mines. And that will be the theme of the hard day the competitors will witness on the road to Antofagasta, as demanding physically as it will be mentally. The open but rocky tracks of the first part of the day won't leave the slightest respite in terms of staying focused. And the off-road portions that follow will request solidity at all points of view: it is indeed here that the competitors will have to battle it out in the fesh-fesh, known on this continent as 'guadal'. At the end of this stage where changes in pace will be numerous; the notion of endurance will start to have its real significance. The less cautious will have already committed mistakes.

Breaking news:

17:50 - Car

303 - Sainz is coming back strong...
Certainly informed of the misfortune of the leader in the standings French driver Stéphane Peterhansel, Spanish driver Carlos Sainz (VW) has turned the pace up a notch on the last 100 km of the day’s special stage. Hence, as the first 8 cars have now cleared km 339 of today’s special stage, if US driver Mark Miller (VW) was still in the lead, he only had a short 18" lead over "El Matador". The provisional third fastest time goes to another American: Robby Gordon and his Hummer.
Robby is closing!
Overall after km 402 RG is now 58min off the lead...
49 Min off the podium.

Got that 1hr monkey off his back...
Hear Kitty, Kitty, Kitty...... Get him Robby!
RG crossed CP4
Did someone say Back To Back Stage wins.... Go Robby, Go!
ONLY ONE MORE TO GO!
Peterhansel reportedly got propshaft problems. Lost 1 hr +. Trying to continue with 2WD. ~ twitter

Really tired of reading press, Robby should be main subject matter on yesterday's win, but who do they talk about, Peterhansel! Grrrrrrrr!!!
i disagree with you on this. Robby was front and center yesterday at nascar.com , etc.
