Course Overview

It'll be on the third real day of racing that the competitors will have to deal with a first test. The change of context will be radical: with a switch from earth to sand and especially a dune portion of close to 30 kilometres. Other than their dimension that suits perfectly a first part of rally, these dunes are noticeable thanks to their white colour. In this new landscape, the crews will enjoy off-piste. They will also have to adapt to a change of climate and especially sand storms that are frequent in the area.

Not sure the rule says he can be towed or pushed by another competitor on the same itinerary. 528 meets that requirement. The question is did they hit all the points? If they were towed by a non competitor its is a DQ. NOT Running under it's own power is a 1hr penalty but only in certain areas. Bump starting is a penalty for both the tower and the towee. I would suspect there would be a 1hr hit for not running at the end of the stage during the scoring area. Plus a penalty for missing way points. I think 3 is the limit of missed waypoints on a stage but I am not sure.

You can glean some info from Ramses blog:

"The #326 Chile Hummer also suffered severely in the special. Carlo lost a clutch, which made it impossible to drive to the dunes, Luckily the Mercedes 4X4 race/support truck was behind them and managed to tow them to the end finishing 34th with a time 5 hours 55 minutes 55 minutes. 3 hours 3 minutes and 36 seconds, behind the race winner."

No mention of penalty, appeal, set backs in scoring at all and he is there. I think by not mentioning it, it would mean, perhaps no DQ penalty.

cause heavy left foot
351 Cracked transmission case. limped out under own power, JB Weld, motor oil and 30 weight ball bearings fixed it
cause both feet weigh a ton
