Anyone know officially why Nascar ** waited to ** throw a yellow at the end of the race yesterday? Geez they threw a caution earlier for paper and another for some rubber off the 44, yet the 34 spins at the SF and no yellow. I just keep thinking about Sonoma and the Caution that did Robby in. I just wish Nascar called it the same every time. ** Corrected said "didn't" before **

and didn't he get fired...hmmmmm.
Yes I wrote that, althought that was not what I ment. I will correct the record.
LOL.....
It's nothing new, they do it all the time, and they always throw the caution before the leaders get there.
NASCAR really messed up. They did this earlier in the season as well. They are going to seriously hurt someone.

If you want the race replay they show Chad K. using some vulgar language as he asked what NASCAR was thinking.
I wish NASCAR would quit being so paranoid in thinking that a small piece of debris is going to cause a serious accident.

What I also don't get is why they always throw a caution when someone just brushes a wall but keeps going, or when someone spins in the infield grass but keeps going. It just doesn't seem necessary.
like a hotdog wrapper??? Yeah that was lame
did he not refire and try to move, and that's when the yellow was thrown ?
Paul Tracy had made the pass long before the yellow...Oh sorry wrong yellow. As was said earlier the yellow flag is for bitching only.
I don't understand what the big deal is. These cars are much safer and have proven that they can take a hit and the driver be completely fine after taking a shot in the side. We saw it as Tally with Edwards going into the fence. We saw it last year with McDowell hitting the wall at Texas around 190 mph and flipping multiple times. We saw it at Watkins Glen with Hornish, Burton and Gordon making major impact. We saw it at Dover with Logano rolling multiple times down the track.

I think that Andretti would have been fine if he was hit by someone going 90-105 mph coming to the line. If they threw the caution as soon as the spin happened, people would still be pissed that another race ended under yellow and we didn't get to see an exciting finish.
1.) Key word is you THINK he would have been fine. Impossible to know. Even though they walk away from these wrecks doesn't mean they are not injured.

2.) Chance of injury is not the only problem. A lot of money could have been wasted. Especially for a low budget team like the 34. They can't afford to lose a car...especially when they didn't have to if NASCAR would just throw the yellow when a car is stalled.

3.) Would your view still be the same if Jimmie Johnson came off turn 4 and hit Robby going 100 and totally destroyed an RGM car?

4.) Its about consistency. If that would have been lap 100 they would have thrown the caution almost immediately. You don't change rules based on a time in the race. JJ had the race won anyways.
1.) I said think, meaning that yes I fully believe he would have been able to substain a hit and not get injured.

2.) Yes a lot of money could have been wasted, but it would have been his spotter's fault for not telling Andretti that the race was still under green. There was no reason for him to move off the wall on the front stretch when it was still under green.

3.) Yes I would still feel the same way if it was RG in the same situation. I don't enjoy the sport because Robby races in 35 or 36 races a year in the series. I watch it because I love the sport, no matter how many cautions fly throughout the race or if someone I don't want to win wins. I want to see these drivers race to the checkered flag, and if Andretti would have stayed on the bottom of the track where he wrecked, we could have seen more drivers in the back pick up possibly a spot or two coming to the line.

4.) Consistency doesn't matter when it is the final lap of the race. Fans want to see the finish of the race under green. And so do the drivers who are battling for position in the closing laps. So if it was lap 100 out of the 500 on Sunday, yes they should throw the caution because at that point, there is no reason to hold off throwing a caution when there is nothing to battle for.
