Robby Gordon Motorsports announced Doug Richert as the crew chief of the #7 Camry for the remainder of the 2009 season. Richert, a NASCAR veteran with more 25 years of experience and 15 Cup wins, will assume the crew chief responsibilities starting at Martinsville this weekend. "Doug brings experience and knowledge to our team, which I hope will help elevate our Cup performance. He has spotted for us since early June, but we are happy to have Doug come on board as crew chief this weekend. He will fill this role for the final five races, and we will see where it goes from there," commented Robby Gordon. "I am really looking forward to this opportunity. Even though I have helped Robby and the #7 team as a spotter, I haven't been associated directly with a team since last May. This opportunity will allow me to be more hands-on in the decisions of the #7, which I hope will directly improve the team's performance. I am looking forward to the rest of the year and continuing to push forward," commented Doug Richert.(RGM)(10-20-2009)

Competition caution at lap 50
Kirk Almiquist will be spotting today at Mville for Robby.
Good Luck to Doug...hope they build some great momentum for 2010...
bet there are cautions before lap 50
Listening to the scanner replay, it appears Doug di what we all have been hoping for...making adjustments, not wholesale changes. Robby sounded confident and the team sounded very in sync....mechanical failure ruined the day. One thing that was obvious, Kirk was might chatty. Could be he's green at being a spotter, but at times it sounded like he never took his finger off the button, constantly talking and forgetting he was the crew chief. Oh well...DEGA is next. One of the few tracks where anybody can win. Look at Brad Keselowski. Just gotta be in the right spot at the right time.
Kirk did a perfect job. He was flawless.
Martinsville,Bristol ,Talladega & Daytona no doubt are the 4 tracks where the spotter talks almost non-stop(unless of course the driver loses the draft at the plate races ) . I listened to other drivers after RG went out, and the other spotters were talking almost non stop too.
and i did like the way Kirk spotted. Some spotters all you her them say is inside, inside, inside...clear.outside, outside.
Sorry, didn't mean it as a negative. Just listening in the past Kirk never said much (Even had to be reminded to call out lap times) so it was a bit of a suprise to hear him talk alot. Not Kirk hater here. ALways thought Kirk did a great job, just didn't make the best calls. It happens.
