Robby Gordon Motorsports announced Doug Richert as the crew chief of the #7 Camry for the remainder of the 2009 season. Richert, a NASCAR veteran with more 25 years of experience and 15 Cup wins, will assume the crew chief responsibilities starting at Martinsville this weekend. "Doug brings experience and knowledge to our team, which I hope will help elevate our Cup performance. He has spotted for us since early June, but we are happy to have Doug come on board as crew chief this weekend. He will fill this role for the final five races, and we will see where it goes from there," commented Robby Gordon. "I am really looking forward to this opportunity. Even though I have helped Robby and the #7 team as a spotter, I haven't been associated directly with a team since last May. This opportunity will allow me to be more hands-on in the decisions of the #7, which I hope will directly improve the team's performance. I am looking forward to the rest of the year and continuing to push forward," commented Doug Richert.(RGM)(10-20-2009)

I so agree with you. I wish we could hear someone say something like I heard from Tommy Baldwin during testing at Vegas a few years back. As Sadler whined and complained about how bad the car was, Baldwin got fed up and said. "Elliott just shut up and drive the fing car!" And he did. Who doesn't need a job that much and will stand up to him?
One thing that Doug has working for him is the fact he knows how Robby reacts in certain situations during a race because he has already heard Robby on the radio. He knows how mad Robby gets, so he knows what is coming.

Time will tell if he is able to fully gain Robby's respect/trust during heated race situations.
From the reports, it sounds like DR had a stable relationship with the Big DE. We know that DE was not the easiest driver to get along with when he was racing. So maybe some of whatever DR brings to the table will rub off on Robby and he will become a more focused and controlled drive. In other words, let the team bring the car to him instead of trying to make the car run like it can't and putting it into the wall.
Dale Sr. was the best man at Doug's wedding.
If, if, if... One might be led to believe there is certainty somewhere in life! Since there isn't, everything is a mere "if."

The driver/CC relationship is like finding the perfect mate. One can be loud, obnoxious and downright rude until they're united with that one person that paints all of life in a different color for them. You're then transformed into something bigger than what you once were and hopefully better. Until then, you date around a bit and have a couple of one night stands.
Some useless information: We now have Biffle's old CC and Biffle has ours. LOL!!
lol. thats kinda funny
can we switch back?
Except ours has been fired from his last 6 jobs and Biffle's has reached a premier team in the sport, and stuck. Still, I hope for the best.
anybody have any inside info on wether or not they addressed the 'who's in charge on race day' question before making the deal?
WOW!!! I think this is a great decision. I hope it works our for both Robby and Doug, they are two of my favorite NASCAR people, and I think they are both stubborn enough to make it work.
I think this is a good move for RGM...hopefully we will get a win!!!!!!!!
