Nascar has seen as many as 60+ teams show up to attempt qualifying, but with the economy, sponsorship woes, increased costs and team number limits, Nascar is searching for teams to assure it's 43 car field next season.

Nascar recently approached the #09 team to ask if they run a full schedule next season. Start & Park teams might increase. Nascar is working to help teams secure sponsors or get race deals.

Nascar has seen as many as 4 teams inside the Top 35 looking to possibly dissolve. When RPM & Yates merged it eliminated a team. Roush will eleminate a team due to Nascar's team cap limit of (4). RCR could dissolve the #07 team if sponsorship isn't found to replace Jack Daniels. The #96 could move their driver Bobby Labonte and sponsors Ask.com & DLP to RCR, but that would still shorten a team. That puts 3 teams inside the Top 35 for sure being dissolved.

Currently 41 teams have attempted every race this season and 5 of those are start & park teams (that only race select races the full distance). That leaves currently 36 real Full Time teams. If 3 are dissolved, Nasacr could realisticly see only 33 or even 32 Full Time teams racing next season.

Nascar has restricted testing to help teams save money, and have had meetings with owners to seek ways to help improve the competition.

The Nationwide race had 10 cars start and park within the first 20 laps. Not much prize money difference between 43rd and 30th on Saturday
I am the start and park expert, lol not really. But i have been paying atention to this situation the past few weeks hence why i have the start and park scanners up on Sunday. Ive gotten a lot of insight the past few weeks and this is what ive been able to analyze. The 09 team can run the full race with its sponsorship but doesnt quite have the equipment to run the full race. So they actually make more money doing the valet then running the full race, buying tires paying pit crew ect., they would finish in the low 30s high 20s if they are lucky. The 36 has a sponsor that = an associate sponsor for Robby. They mainly pay for Friday and Saturday. The 37 is branch of team of the 34 and runs barely any laps, idk about the engine idea. The 66 is the Mac-Daddy Start and Park team i doubt they are even looking for sponsors, i actually get ticked off listening to their scanner becuase they often mock what they do. The 71, i feel for. They are just underfunded, they try to find sponsorship but it doesnt come through all the time. And same goes for the 87, but theyre even more underfunded.
I talked to Tommy Baldwin for a few minutes the other day, and he enlightened me on many things that made sense to what they were doing.

The #34 wasn't a SnP this week. I was actually surprised to see that car continuing to run during the day. They might not have much of a crew, but the Taco Bell Chevy kept on going. Unfortuantly for other teams, I heard mention on the broadcast that they knew they had to SnP because the engine they were running had too many miles on it.

IMO, this takes away from the competition and it needs to be addressed with possibly a smaller field to elminate these SnP cars. This way someone like Nemechek can sell his qualification to Red Bull so the driver and sponsor can be in the big show. He'd probably make more money that way and save on the Sunday expense. Oh that's right, he is trying to attract sponsors by saying, "See, I can race on Sunday if I wanted to."

F-It. Go back to 2 days of qualifying with 25 teams locked in after the first session. And 7 provisionals after the 2nd round. (just kidding, I like seeing Robby racing on Sundays)
