Looks like Jack Roush put Erik Darnell in the #96 for 7 races ( obviously to protect rookie status ) and now Bobby Labonte is looking for a ride. His PCP will probably get him something .

Too bad HOF Racing switched to Ford. If they stuck with JGR and Toyota, it could have been a REAL good fit.
If HOF would go Toyota, and they Keep Ask.com and Labote for 2010, would be awesome if RG could land them as a satellite team as he provides the cars and engines and let's them work out of his shop and he gaions all the technical information on how his cars handle from a true great veteran driver..

probably a pipe dream..but what a great scenario if RGM could make it happen.... at really no expense to him (other than shop space..but they have ALOT of that)...as they would get paid for the cars..Triad gets paid for the engines...and HOF pays their own employees...
That would be an ideal scenario.
Doubt that will happen...but only a few teams have room:

CHEVY:
RCR-FULL
Hendrick- FULL
EGR- Has 2 openings
SHR- Has 2 openings

FORD:
Roush-FULL
Yates- Just left

Dodge:
Penkse- Has 1 opening
RPM- FULL (but might have an opening in 2010)

Toyota:
JGR-Been there
MWR- Has 1 opening
RBR- Has 2 openings
RGM-Has 3 openings
Interesting thought... satellite team might work better than adding another to the stable with sponsor issues and logistics to consider.
Well aren't you just Mr. Insightful??? We may not be privilege to behind-the-scenes logistics. We're merely a handful of fans tossing out some thoughts that are a bit out of the box. None of which are bashing our guy or the way he chooses to run his business, which so often frequent these pages. Robby knows best. No question. But that doesn't mean none of us know shit.
I would think he would say,

I have more than enough room for a 2nd team....

Going the satellite team route shields me from many of the financial pitfalls and issues of starting my own 2nd team.

What does it cost other than a little bit of time to inquire about such an arrangement..."

Though I am probably sure he's thought of a similar arrangemnt like this with potential teams way before tis thread ever started...
a satellite team is still risky. If you have to build the cars and crew the team (as is the yates-HOFR arrangement) for 'em and they can't pay, what do you do?
well if they can;t pay from the get go, you don;t enter that agreement...

if they don;t pay after services are rendered... you sue the living $hit out of them...

pretty simple actually...lol
I somehow doubt RGM has the $$$ lying around to be able to wait out a lawsuit that won't be settled for over a year. You can sue a corporation msot teams are set up as a private one for tax and various business reasons) for all it's worth, but sometimes that's $0 and even though you win, you don't see a dime.
hence why there is a great legal theory called "piercing the corporate veil".

As for lawyers...if you don't have the $$ to pay the retainer/hourly rates, there are PLENTY of them who would love to take a multimillion dollar breach of contract on a contingent fee basis...
Think Bobby can drive a car without power steering? We know PJ couldn't
