This is why we need to be his loyal fans and cheerleaders. We will get disappointed when things go bad but a true fan is there through thick and thin. Check the fair weather fans at the door.

RG encompasses what America used to be. Work hard every day and one day your day will come. Some fans in this group are a reflection of what America has become. A bunch of spoiled folks thinking they deserve and are entitled to things they haven't worked for.

Pom Poms up and ready to go.
RGFan, my memory is different then yours. I remember the Menard engine that kept going up in smoke. Then there was DEI where everyone on the planet was sure he was getting 2nd grade or test motors. I am a Ford man at heart and I think he should have stayed with him and I do not remember the reasons why he left. The GEM episode left him little choice when it came to Dodge. I think being a Toyota team may be a good choice in the long run. I hoped that he would have access to R&D and other info from other small teams. Does he have it and decides to not use it? I think it comes down to the COT. This seems like a beast and the first thing you have to do is throw out all your notes. As a single car team he only has one set of inputs. Keep the faith. He is not a dummy and he is a good business man.
2006 was the best year for RGM period. That was the last time Robby had a car that had a legitimate chance of winning on an oval, the first Atlanta race that year. He would consistently sneak his way towards the top 10 in other races.

Fords Nascar situation is run by Roush, like it or not. Robby was not a big fan, plus there was a possible deal with GEM buying the #7 that just tipped the scales towards the Dodge camp.

Robby is a great driver, but not a dummy and a good business man? Red Bull offered to buy half of Robbys team back at the end of 2005. Where did they finish yesterday? Whats their points position? To me, the Red Bull deal is the one that got away...
I disagree, respectfully, about Red Bull. Obviously there was a good reason for him to switch from Red Bull to Monster.
Yea. Does anyone remember an interview Robby did when he started the Busch program? He said he would be successful because he had people in place to do the day-to-day stuff so he could focus on driving, specifically John handling the business side of things.

The formula is definately different now than it was back when his Busch team was competing for wins on a weekly basis. Im not complaining mind you, just reminiscing about the past.
It seems to me that something went bad after the third season (2007), he had gone through a three-year struggle to get to 26th, the team was progressing nicely , then the next year everything seemingly went into the toilet. There is something from which the team has never recovered, I know there has been turnover with crew members and most notably, crew chiefs, but something changed after that season, and it isn't the manufacturer. I have often heard that RG would not be racing if it isn't fun, maybe the fun has gone out of it in Cup? (and no, I am not saying he should quit)
The part I worry most about is, has the team become complacent?
The car changed and with it, they can't test. Seems like one of those times you have to take a couple steps back but he won't stay there for long.
Yeah, I hope he can finally nail down this car and get somewhere with it. There is the occasional glimmer of hope, if he can stay out of trouble on the track and with Nascar, that would help. Complacency is not RG's way, and I did not mean to imply that, I am wondering if some crew members have had the fight go out of them. I truly hope not, as RG needs people behind him with the same fire he has.
I think he is getting there. The car has been competitive lately. Lets see, the locker went out, blew the power steering pump, quickly went tight then blew a rf tire. Hopefully he is putting himself in a position for a good run.

A lot on the planet believe the COT is killing Nascar. Hopefully it will not kill RG's spirit and RGM. Gas on Robby.
The problem with the team is turnover. I'm not going into the whys,& why nots. Long story short it's not desire, or lack there of.
Oh & as far as Kirk goes, he's alright in my book. He seems to handle the adversity that being an RGM CC comes with very well.
Hey everybody---think for a minute just how competitive Nascar has become. Take a long look at the owners-drivers point standings and truly think about what RG is up against. Everybody harps on "RG made this bed and has to sleep in it" or "RG can't get hired by anybody and has to do it this way, etc, etc". Have any of you thought that maybe RG does it this way for his own reasons---"building his own team from the ground up, being able to truly have the freedom to run other series---(dakar, off-road, possibly indy, etc.).
Listen, he ran up 10 positions yesterday running up against the wall on 2 restarts and had a strong car. You run where your car can run and will run the fastest. Let's not forget that RG is the ONLY, I repeat ONLY, one car team that is in Nascar and is actually competitive. He has NO team mate, does limited testing, and doesn't have full sponsorship. He has NO technical alliance with ANY teams. He is one of the more talented drivers in the garage area and that is a FACT. Show me another driver who has won races OFF ROAD, DAKAR STAGES, INDY CARS, IMSA, NATIONWIDE, SPRINT CUP, ETC., ETC., You can't---because nobody in the garage is as good as RG. Where do you think RG would be in the points if he was in the #20, #12, #88, #1, #29, #31, #07, ----I can go on if you'd like.
Every true RG fan on this site that has actually followed his career and know anything at all about racing should realize that as a true single car owner-driver with limited sponsorship and NO alliance with any major team would be a true miracle to be in the top 25 in points.
