Jayski & other "Rumor Story sites" gets slammed
Though the popular "Jayski Silly Season Site" was never mentioned by name, it was easy to see it was the main target of this article, just read the last few stories on Jayski and you'll see this editor was tired of the lies.
Tired of seeing sites rack in money off of false statements (Web sites use their number of hits to draw sponsors, just like television does for ratings), Jayski is known for taking information deemed reliable (even if it comes from a crew member who thinks he'll be first to break a story, or a UPS delivery guy who spots a Company logo inside a team building, or driver seen playing golf with a rival team owner, and so on). The stories are posted to bring hits to the site, like Danica to Nascar? Khane to Toyota? or RCR to scale back to 2 teams? he then follows up with DENIED with an official response from a team or marketing manager. Now usually where there's smoke there's fire, so Danica does have Nascar as a possibility if the money on the table is large enough, and RPM is looking at other options for next season since Dodge continues to struggle, and RCR did confirm that sponsors Shell & Jack Daniel's haven't renewed thier deals yet. (Far cry from the headlines Jayski posts). Some of the stories even are foreseeable, like Truex to leave EGR? Everyone that follows Nascar knows he was leaving after his contract was up. Truex to Waltrip? That was easy to see also, since Ty Norris went to MWR and he's the one that got Truex a deal at DEI.
But is it fair to fans to post partially true headlines just to get more "clicks" to increase your viewership? Jayski has a monopoly on the rumor site and fans love to get information so he'll continue business as usual. Although, Jayski has gotten behind on his information latley (too busy counting his checks from ESPN), since information can be found all over the web before Jayski even has a clue.

Truex's brother just signed as a developmental driver for MWR....
The Truex / MWR deal is done, but the bigger news is that POS will be out of the 55 and Martin WILL be in. This will all be announced next week.

Thats why its funny... he tried to be tounge in cheek but is so uninformed about Robby that he made a "rediculous" statement which could turn out to be true. Get it?

Hey everyone, since I actually wrote the article in question here, I figured I'd jump into the conversation here and clear up a few things. First, my post wasn't targeted at Jayski in any way. Jayski is mostly just a links site, he didn't write any of the tidbits I discussed. Jayski is actually a great friend to our website and you won't see us attacking him for anything. He does a great job and offers a great service to his readers and website owners like us. We certainly aren't attempting to mimick his site or replace it.
There are a few writers who have a reputation for trying to pass off rumors as news, and that is who I was directing this at. It seems that many are trying to race each other and the blogs to be the first to report news, often times without confirming any of the rumors. And I feel like the doom-and-gloom angle on many of these stories is just completely overblown. While things are tough right now, the sky certainly isn't falling.
And just a quick note about our site, neither myself nor my partner write posts for "clicks." While it is fun to have good traffic, we don't rely on the website to feed us. It's a fun side project we started, and while we do have a small amount of advertising, whatever money is made goes towards paying for the site (which is still mostly done out of pocket). The point of our site is to have some fun and offer readers a little something different.

Thanks for the explanation, I will be checking out your site. And the funny thing is, probably most of us who have been paying attention already knew that Truex would more than likely escape Earnhardt-Ganassi for greener pastures.

Jayski used to be a rumor site, where stuff that was pulled out of someone's ass on a message board could find its way to Jayski's rumors. Now Jayski has little to nothing to do with rumors is basically a site for distro of press releases and news bits that you can find at most legit racing news sites.....
