Obviously with this being the first time the #4 Jim Beam/Menards Toyota will attempt the race they are not locked in. There are no Past Champions that are not locked in so that means the 8 fastest non top 35 drivers will make the race, Most of you probably already know that.

I see PJ making the race as the 4th fastest go or go homer behind Fellows, Said, and Speed. What do you all think?

you realy think speed will make it....
he's a joke
No, he's not. Scott Speed is an incredibly talented race-car driver. He is definitely going to be a threat this weekend.
It will be interesting to see how Speed does. Being a former open-wheeler doesn't mean he will do well here. Remember Dario didn't make the race last year and there's no debate that he can wheel a car left as well as right. It's just different with an extra thousand lbs. under you. If it was a kart or formula car, no doubt Speed would own the field (except for JPM).
You are 100% correct.... he is a joke.....much like J J Yeley...another "balleyhooed" driver
I don't know if I could think of a worse comparison... I think they both are very talented but have yet to have any success in cup ( which I doubt Yeley ever will) but JJ can drive the wheels off a midget. Speed on the other hand is a hell of a wheelman obviously... I guess it goes back to our favorite word "talent" , sometimes is hard to show in a cup car.
A la Robby Gordon...
How many Formula Renault championships does anyone else in NASCAR have? Scott can drive, especially on a road course.
Speed will be fine and is almost a lock to make the race at Sears Point.
i guess i get attitude mixed with good driving sometimes, they are not always the same
Lol, i just got a text from Austin he doesnt see any way that PJ makes the race. the 02, 27, and 37 have little to no chance. The 66 and 87 wont qualify as well or at all like they do on the ovals, and the 13 doesnt have that much horsepower though they will make the race based on papis being a good road racer. The 36 will be fair at best, in fact i can even see PJ beating out the 82 and 08 because they will play it too safe. The only car i dont think PJ will beat is the 09 because Fellows is in a Hendrik Chevy.
27, 37 and 87 go home.
Ya this is probably PJ's best ride in a while. In 07 he drove the 00 for MWR and made bothe road races and finished 12th at Sonoma. And made the Watkins Glenn race in 08 in the 96, which really struggled last year! And those were harder fields to make it in then this field full of 2 other Ringers and 5 start and parkers!
