where did the 204 number come from....I dont know much about these things, is it one just not taken or do you have to buy it?
The "20" part of 204 is a designator of a different team running the #4. McClure still had right to the number at the beginning of the season, but if that car is not running any team can use it. The way Nascar keeps things straight on the season long owners points is to designate cars with the same number by adding a 100, 200, etc. Hence, 204. Im not sure who else tried to run the #4 and were given 104; Nascar could have designated the McClure Talledega DNQ as 104 since there was no true full season car attempting to run the #4...

I assume we will see PJs car with the #4 on the side, not 04. Not saying the Morgan McClure background was the main reason for going with the #4, but I think it at least played in Robbys mind a bit.
I still dont understand.....I thought Gibbs owned 20 and MM owned 4. Sorry im just Ignorant on this.
oh...a designator....got it..
It is just a way to differentiate multiple teams that intend to use the #4 on different weekends...

#4 - Reserved for full time team to run the full season with #4 (I assumed the was Morgan McClure)

#104 - I believe this was used for the Morgan McClure #4 entry at Talledega (not sure why as I assumed Morgan McClure has right to the #4, see above)

#204 - RGM team running the #4 at Sonoma

If there is ever a weekend multiple teams that use the #4 are trying to qualify, the #4 gets first rights, then 104, and so on...
The #4 is on PJ's car this weekend.
will the car have the 4 on it or 204?
he will have the #4. #204 is just a designator. it's been explained throughout multiple posts. If you read up alittle bit, you should find it, I can't even begin to explain it lol.
If it were my car I would run 5150 on mine after reading these posts!
Is it the weekend yet? This is like Christmas as a kid, I can't wait.
I hear that. This is the most excited I've been all season!
I thought RG was going to run a 2 sided car to confuse the TV people (as if they needed more help). Would have been extra confusing with all the lefts and rights.
(Apologies if this was already said but I couldn't read 13+ pages of posts)
