Robby Gordon Charlotte Preview

Charlotte, NC (May 21, 2009) – Robby Gordon will pilot Chassis No. 300 in the NASCAR Sprint Cup season’s longest race of the year at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend. After a strong run last weekend in the Sprint Showdown – starting 32nd and finishing 9th – the No. 7 Jim Beam / Operation Homefront team hopes to utilize what they learned last weekend and implement it into this weekend’s strategy for another solid result.

Gordon will make his 18th start at the 1.5 mile track, with a best finish of 16th and looks to improve upon those statistics this weekend.

Salute the Troops – In honor of Memorial Day, Jim Beam and Robby Gordon Motorsports has asked, veteran John Savage to be an honorary pit crew member during the 600 mile race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway for the No. 7 Jim Beam / Operation Homefront entry. Savage, a former NCO in the U.S. Army Special Operations Command, served his country for 22 years and received his retirement from service due to combat related injuries. Savage currently resides in Asheboro, NC where he mentors youth in martial arts, providing encouragement and a foundation to a better life.

Additionally the No. 7 Jim Beam Camry will sport a special red, silver and blue paint scheme featuring Operation Homefront, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing emergency assistance and morale to U.S. Troops and their families.

Charlotte – “Our No. 7 Jim Beam / Operation Homefront Camry is going to be fast this weekend. If qualifying did not get cancelled last week and we had a better starting position on Saturday night, I truly believe that we would have raced our way into the All-Star Race. We are bringing Chassis No. 300 this weekend to the track, which is not the same car that we raced last weekend. This is the second showing of this car, and I think that we will have a good shot on Sunday night. It is a long race, so anything can happen. We just hope to get a good qualifying run in tonight and be in the position to go for it Sunday,” Gordon stated.

TV and Radio Times – Qualifying is set for Thursday, May 21 at 7:00 p.m. (ET) on SPEED TV, PRN, and Sirius. Race time on Sunday is 5:30 p.m. (ET) and will be broadcast on FOX, PRN, and Sirius.

Appearance Schedule – Gordon will make a pit stop for Jim Beam on Saturday, May 23rd at the ABC Store located at 7000 Hudspeth Road in Concord, NC from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Please note that you must be 21 years of age to receive an autograph at the ABC Store. Gordon will make another stop on Sunday, May 24th at 2 p.m. at his souvenir trailer before heading to the Jim Beam display at 3:00 p.m. This display is open to the public, but you must be at least 21 years old to enter.

Not sure where to put this...but I heard there is a mandatory meeting tomorrow for drivers and owners.

Isn't this going to further effect Robby's pre-running out in Baja?
You could have put it in the Mandatory Meeting thread.

I guess it depends on what the consequences would be for not making the meeting.
Add Mexico to the list, the crew left today for a week of testing and prerunning for the 500.
