Had Robby stayed out when the last competition caution came out, he would have been the leader ,and I know he would have dropped like a rock on the re-start.but the question is, how far do you think he would have fallen at the checkered flag ? Would he have wadded it up ? Would the tire have blown out ? He wouldn't have finished any worse than he did,and he would have gotten the extra 5 points. I think he would have finished in the 20's if the tires held up. But I could be wrong. Any thoughts ?

I wanted him to stay out on the next to last caution to lead a lap. He was running at the back anyway. With the street sweepers making as many laps as the COC's he would have had plenty of time.
All in all it was an enbarresing race for all involved RGM included!
Bad luck would have kicked him in the nuts.
Nascar started closing pit lane with 2 to go before the competition yellows to prevent people from trying the short pit to get rack position (Truex on like lap 120 was the last to do it). The TRUE smart gamble would have been to come in with 3 to go before the last comp yellow for right sides only 9splash of fuel) and hustle it off to stay on the lead lap....if we could have pulled that off we may have stolen a top 20
when the second to last caution came out with 19 laps to go and they were going to through a caution with ten to go i said he sould have stayed all the way in the back and not used up any tires then stay out and get a top ten i guess there was too much excitment going on in the pits or in walters head not to think of this ohh well he will still be racing next week
Robby was already hanging out in the back going as slow as he could legally go. (have to maintain a minimum speed). The tires were still worn down to almost nothing. No way he would of come close to finishing the race if he would of stayed out.

either way it doesn't matter. that wasn't a race to begin with.. Who knows what would of happened if it wasn't for that tire issue and people could of actually ran thier cars.
To get the hell outta there with the car in one piece was a victory.
yeah, it was a tough situation all the way around. I think we should give the team a mulligan on that race and be happy the car is in one piece and nobody got hurt.It was difficult circumstances for the crew yesterday.Poor lugnuts never had a chance to dry they were changing tires so much.Even the sticky tape wasn't working. looking forward to hearing a report from Chris on yesterdays race. I was just speculating what would have happened if they stayed out.I already knew the answer,I was just looking for a miracle..lol...
Ooooh, good one.
That's a really tough call, isn't it? My first reaction was to stay out, but I seriously don't think the tires would have lasted with the way RG drives (no disrespect meant). RG and Walt really were between a rock and a hard place.
Definitely the right call to pit...the extra five points would have been nice but not worth a mangled car.
Yesterdays race was a fucking joke, were were cording tires at 6 laps and got a flat on one set with 8 green flag laps. Goodyear couldnt mount up the low stock of tires they had fast enough, and the tires we were turning around and re-glueing for the next stop were falling off before we even got to the car during the stop. If we would of stayed out we would of been in the fence for sure even at min. speed. Goodyear and Nascar make a mockery at the famed Indy and the teams got stuck with a $50k tire bill. The car was good RG just couldnt drive it hard, at least we didnt tear it up, we are turning it to be the pocono primary.
Hopefully Robby was easy on you guys today considering the circumstances. Good thing Indy is only once a year! Thanks Chris.
