Organizers say Dakar Rally will weather crisis

Does this affect Robby's eligibility or was this statement just meant for persons competing in the Motorbike category? Has Robby ever competed in any World Rally Races? Does the CER in 2008 count?

......Organizers will now require all drivers to have competed in a World Rally competition and one Dakar Rally in the past three years.

Yes, you're right. I completely forgot about the Rally-Raids and the FIA Baja Races. That makes more sense than the WRC rallys. But Robby already raced in Dakar, so he's safe.
And the ASO is going to organize another Rally this year, it will be somewhere in Asia.

I wouldn't trust anything from Yahoo sports. They've always been a bit suspect. Mostly they just re-post AP stuff. The recent lay-offs at yahoo probably won't help.

Click on the link below to read the new rules posted by the A.S.O... The way I read it is that they will be more strict going forward but anybody who has already participated in the Dakar will be good to go because they already hold an FIA license.

With that said I think this new rule is just for the total newbie’s just like SCORE gets when people want to race the Baja 500 or Baja 1000 as their first ever off road race.

Would I quit my job to become a full time rally-raid racer...No. I have no experience. But, would I take a month off work to race a bike in the Dakar if I could get enough funds...Hell yeah. It has been a dream of mine for a long time. The ASO wants to make sure idiots like me don't turn our dreams into their media nightmare. It should not be a problem for serious racers to enter.

I think Robby miss his calling on WRC, and also F1. If this American F1 team would of happen in the early 90's. I think Robby would of been one of the drivers. I think it would of been between Robby Gordon, Tony Stewart, and also Jeff Gordon.

Robby was pretty good in CART, and was pretty good on the Road Courses. Weather it was CART or Sports Car Racing.
