DAYTONA 500 : DUEL & QUALIFYING PREDICTIONS (WHO'S IN & WHO'S OUT)

#08 James Hylton - Great story for the Duels, but history afterwards (OUT)
#09 Brad Keselowski- This will be a Hendrick Racing car running under James Finch. Should be a threat for the pole & should be able to race during the duels. (IN)
#14 Tony Stewart - No worries here, Past Champions Provisional secures him a spot in the field (IN)
#21 Bill Elliott - If Stewart & Labonte get in without using the Champs Prov, then Bill can use it, but with Roush/Yates engines and a limited schedule, along with Terry likely to use the provisional (OUT)
#23 Mike Skinner- Skinner does well in pressure situations & plate tracks, not sure if he has the people around him to get the job done though.(OUT)
#27 Kirk Shelmerdine- Kirk has made the show before, but this likely won't be the year (OUT)
#28 Travis Kvapil- Don't be surprised if Travis doesn't win the pole, should have the speed to fall back on, but should be able to race his way in also (IN)
#33 Clint Bowyer- Things could get hairy for Clint, but he's good enough to race his way in (IN)
#36 Scott Riggs- SLEEPER ALERT! This is my pic for the cinderella story, he has some solid people around him and has alot to prove (IN)
#46 Carl Long- Carl will make a few shows this year, but not the big one (OUT)
#51 Kelly Bires-Not the Daytona 500 (OUT)
#57 Norm Benning- NO CHANCE! (OUT)
#60 Boris Said- Could win the pole & will have the speed, but must get a good drafting partner early and race cautiously (IN)
#66 Terry Labonte- Likely to benefit by Stewart making the show without a Champs Prov. (IN)
#71 Mike Wallace- Wreckers or Checkers, Mike will not hold back to race into the big show (OUT)
#75 Derrike Cope- Previous Daytona Winner, but history won't help Cope get in (OUT)
#78 Regan Smith- The driver has the talent (see 08 Dega), but will have to fight for every position (IN)
#87 Joe Nemechek- Front Row Joe? NO! (OUT)
## Jeremy Mayfield- Highly unlikely, but stranger things have happened. (OUT)

So here's how I see it:

36 Brad Keselowski (Duel)
37 Tony Stewart (Duel)
38 Scott Riggs (Duel)
39 Regan Smith (Duel)
40 Boris Said (on speed)
41 Travis Kvapil (on speed)
42 Clint Bowyer (on speed)
43 Terry Labonte (Champions Provisional)
My IN THE RACE list in order of predicted 500 starting position: 71 60 14 33 28 36 21 66 The pole will be won by a Toyota not racing it way in, Fords will lack too much speed even with the pack and the Bowties will hang back passing most of the cars listed above as they wreck out, I see alot of yellows in the dules this year, tires again or still? I hope not but its sounding more like its still so, but hey what do I know. Our Hurricane Robby will start in the top 20 (16th 'ish) and may gain a spot or two before the motors fire on sunday, SuperSpeedways always leads to cheating but will NASCORP be looking this year, we'll see....
I predict RG makes it in. Who cares otherwise. Ha ha
Story will be Bowyer misses
Bowyer missing it? Could you imagine his anger watching the 07 with Mears from a pit box! He would rip that Hamburger Helper glove off the quarter panel and slap Childress with it.
I hope Bowyer misses out...not because I dislike him or Childress by any means, but because it's monday and I feel like a prick.
Robby's in so who cares?
My sentiments.
Well we just want to know who else he's going to beat, aside from the top-35ers ;)
good topic to shoot the shit about
Does anyone know if the 4th Ganassi/DEI car will take owner points from either the 01 or 15? If that happens, Hornish has to race his way in. I predict Kenny Wallace is pegged for the 41...if they actually do it.

The only thing I'd like to consider is who has the old Ganassi Dodges? Both Montoya & sorenson had a top five at a plate track last year.
Isn't the 41 already in the Top 35? They wouldn't need to take points from the 01 or 15 I believe
