I just want to say that I am the last person in the world that would ever ask for a favor, but in this case, I feel like it is warranted. So TOG, if you would please leave this up for at least a day for me, I'd appreciate it.

A few years ago, I met a fellow Robby Gordon fan on the NASCAR.com message boards. I actually met many of you there, but I found a friend in Hank Lee who is only a year older than I am. Through the years we have remained close and even raced online together for quite sometime. Hank won his very first race in one of my cars in fact. But thats not the point. Hank has always been good to me and now its time for me to try and help out a friend of mine who is giving up hope.

When Hank was 18, he left home for the land of nascar opportunity in North Carolina. That was 3 years ago and it has been a huge struggle for him to keep his dream alive. Hank went to and graduated from Nascar Techincal Institute last September, since then he has not been able to find any nascar related work except a brief stint working as a volunteer for Morgan Shepard. Hank spends his week submitting applications and calling teams to see if they will hire him, and to this day he has come up empty.

A few years ago a young Hank Lee met Mr. Robby Gordon who told Hank to seek him out when he was old enough and graduated. Hank graduated and submitted an application at RGM, but RGM is not looking to hire him at this time. So what I'm asking is that if any of you know ANYONE in NASCAR whether its a cup, nns, ncwts team that is looking for some mechanical help please please send Hank Lee a message on this site or ask me for his phone number which I will gladly give you. I would not do this for just anyone. Hank is a great friend to me and know one will work harder to keep his dream alive than Hank, but he wants to give up, and I felt like this was worth a shot no matter how little of a chance it has to succeed.

Hank would love to be a crew chief someday, but he knows thats not very realitstic, he just wants to have a successful career and achieve his dream and who can blame him? In 2009, I was able to achieve my dream and work for Robby Gordon Motorsports. It was brief, although I still help out every once and a while now, but at least I got to live my dream somehow, and thats all I am hoping for Hank. I'm sure Hank will do whatever it takes on his end to make this work, but it just takes that one contact to make things work out in his favor. I knew one person, TOG, who just threw my name out there and RGM took a chance on me. Now I'm just hoping someone here can find someone willing to take a chance on Hank.

Thank you all. I hope someone can help him out. I would hate for him to go home empty handed. TOG, if there are any problems you can move this to the racing discussion or call and yell at me. I just posted it on the main page to give him a chance to be noticed.

Just tell your friend to not give up and keep trying. Its all about who you know in the racing business. Once he gets his foot in the door things will happen much faster. From what you say it sounds like he is doing the right things. It just takes time.
Tell your friend that he is entering the workforce at a bad time and while your intentions are very good, the economy still stinks and there are a ton of people out of work in all industries. Most of my high school graduating class went on to college and gradutated in 1992 when good entry level jobs were hard to come by. Most of them took a lesser job before moving on with thier careers and have done very well. Right now it is a time to think small before you think big. Get experience and prove your value.
+1
Acra is a good suggestion. Another one is volunteering at one of the smaller cup, nationwide, or truck teams shops. It will get his foot in the door, and perhaps then he can work his way up.
tell him to apply at ART ( Americas Race Team ) ..they are a new team...even better, he can buy a 'share' of that team and hire himself as an employee....lol...
not at all. They are a new team, thus needing employees. If he buys into the team via the $299 share, then he might have an upper hand on other applicants.Hey, its worth a shot.
The world can be a cruel place sometimes. If it were easy, we'd all be doing exactly what we want and making thousands of dollars in the process.
He has tried numerous ARCA teams, his day consists of visiting teams, filling out applications and getting nowhere.
ART racing team. Most in the business think it will be a big failure ,so I dont see many leaving Hendrick,Rcr,Gibbs, etc, to join that team. I think he could get in at the ground level, and if it does happen to fail, he didnt have anything to lose. And if they do happen to get to the races, then he looks like a genius.
I certainly get what you are saying. I don't know how he would go about contacting them, but I'll pass that info along.
Thanks TOG, I texted him to check this thread and told him about your advice. Did you ever accomplish or look into that project that I was supposed to do or no?
Yes, the green light was given. I will call you tomorrow, before practice starts.
