TWO-THIRDS OF THE WAY THROUGH THE SEAOSN COULD YOU LOOK AT WHAT THE CHALLENGE WOULD HAVE BEEN TO CREATE A NEW TEAM IF IT WAS DONE FROM SCRATCH? "I never would have considered it in the first place. That's why this was the right opportunity for us. It was an existing deal. The headaches to try to build it from square one would have been impossible for me. I wouldn't have been able to take on that challenge. That's why I tell people from the start that Michael Waltrip and Robby Gordon, those guys that have started their own deal from scratch that's what makes them more impressive than what we've done and how we've done it. The model was already there for me it was just inserting people where they had to do it all from scratch."

tony will give mwr and rgm all the credit, but he will cash in on all of the trophies behind the scenes.
Some good advice from Tony in the article
Having the people that we've got at Stewart-Haas, it gives me that flexibility to make sure that I get my time, my rest. It's having the right people in the right positions. When you have that you don't have to babysit. You don't have to sit over top of them and watch everything they're doing because you know they're doing a good job. You know they're doing it the way you would want it done. That itself gives you the peace of mind and know when you lay down at the end of the day that you can rest."
I don't think Robby's built that way. I think at the end of the day if he hadn't had his hands in everything all day long there is no way he could sleep.
Let's not forget that POS (yea i'll bite) had tons of dough plopped in his lap by Toyota and UPS when he started I see the power of the mighty buck giving him a leg up. Racings version of a talking head. In any event short of being a fly on the wall there are several folks who are waiting for that first Cup win by Robby to say what they feel, there are alot more folks who know than say so.
correct me if I'm wrong, but is'nt MW listed as co-owner ?
I agree with you. There is no way that Robby could turn over control. It is not in his character.
I had a conversation with Robby's stepmom at Sonoma she said "Robby on average does not get to bed till about midnight... and if he's not at the shop he's doing sponsor obligations.... and then he's back at it at 7 am everyday"
I'd be willing to bet my life that Rick Hendrick owns more of Tony Stewart's team than Tony Stewart does--does anyone else find it funny that Hendrick texted Tony the week before the Glen saying "About time for another win, eh?", according to Stewart himself? Why would a guy who has "no business interest" in a team possibly want that team (which competes with his own) to win?

It's clear that this whole thing was set-up by NASCAR itself as a way to shun the criticism that its teams are "too corporate" and that no owner/drivers have a real shot. It's no coincidence that all of Tony Stewart's sponsors are also Official NASCAR sponsors--NASCAR set it up that way--and it's also no coincidence that Rick Hendrick is always the first one in victory lane when Tony wins a race.

I'm so sick of the NASCAR-friendly media turning a blind eye to this obvious cabal that exists to try and gloss over the fact that NASCAR isn't out for racing, only out to please it's "Official Partners", by having a "good old scrappy owner/driver" winning again. Yeah, right.
And Hendrick is blatantly breaking the 4-car limit rule and Nascar is, at worst, supporting it and, at the very least, turning a blind eye.
How many times has a thread like this popped up here? Trying to out-do "Will Robby Race Montreal"?
Wait, he IS??!

...

:P
That the reason I'm a Robby Gordon fan right now because of his determination to build his own team and be successful at it. I just hope he can pull into Victory Lane soon and enjoy the trill of winning a Nascar race in his own equipment. Let's go Robby kick a** at Michigan.
